Technical Mallory Distributor

    Iam using a Mallory Magnetic breakerless Distributor in my 57 chevy Ineed to find out what Coil and Resistor to use with this Distributor

    You can use any coil that is designed for an electronic ignition. We run the chrome Accel or Mallory brands, but those big yellow ones also work. And you will need a resistor to bring the voltage down or it will damage the distributor. We use those ceramic rectangular ones that you can get at any parts store.

    I think MSD bought out Mallory so their tech help desk should be able to answer any questions. The MSD website has a lot of info you can download too.

    I agree, CALL TECH SUPPORT! I had that dizzy in my 56 Chevy. I needed a ballast resister, with a different ohm rating than the stock original. Mallory also strongly recommended using their $45.00 in line surge protector. Surges kill a lot of electronic dizzy modules and the so called shade tree experts never figure it out and repeatedly replace the module and bad mouth the manufacturer of the dizzy. I believe the Mallory wiring schematic will show the surge protector. The "Unlite" schematic shown is not the schematic for your dizzy.
