Howdy all... I'm not new. I swear. I've just been away for a LONG time. I have searched and searched and searched but I'm not finding what I'm after so I'm gonna ask. I've got a basket case Mallory YL 501 AV distributor here and I wanna get it back together and see if I can get it set up on my Sun 504 machine. Does the fact that it's a single point distributor mean it was intended for marine use? I ask because I read something here that suggested that. Does anyone have exploded views of these distributors? Maintenance manual or end play specs? There are a couple small shims that are too thin for going between the drive gear and housing. I'm wondering where they are intended to be installed. Also... Is there a source for the degree keys? I appreciate any help! Please and thank you.
Looks like it fits a 330-455 Olds. There is one on EBAY that appears to be for a Marine application. If yours has the little round vent screens in the side it is a Marine application. Those will work fine in a Hot Rod application also. I have advance keys for those and Pertronix makes a breakerless conversion for them. I probably have a general exploded view in one of my old Mallory catalogs. I am in Camas not that far from you, let me know if I can help.
Hey thanks! It does indeed have the little round vent screens. I'm going to be in Vancouver tomorrow helping a buddy pull parts at All American. Shoot me a message. Maybe we can make something happen if you're gonna be around. I appreciate your response!!
