Yesterday I was talking to my dad about the normal stuff...dragsters etc. and the topic came up about some of his old clubmates from the 50's. It seems that 3 of his buddies got together and built a frt engine dragster, a 3 way split if you will. The whole time the dragster was under construction each thought the other was gonna drive it. None of them really wanted to drive, just be the owner and pit crew, they were all kinda scared of it. Apparently, they spent 90% of their time arguing and bickering over the small details etc. One guy was real anal, the other 2 more efficiency driven. Time goes on and before they can get the drag car totally finished, they start getting married, starting families...college etc. By this time the car was 95% complete and they all kinda drifted apart. My dad has always thought this car had been sold. The other day he was talking to one of the original owners and they mentioned the car....dad says whatever happened to that car? It's in so and so's garage ...still. Just like it was.... Injected 301 SBC and all. I have gotta get over there and try and get this thing out of it's happy domestic middle American surroundings!!!! True story. Another survivor found.
Two words....pho-tos...........we just gotta see this mo fo. Think it could be bought? Maybe take your buddies with you to see it and tell the owner you guys are a club just like his old club! Might help to sway him/them to sell or better yet: donate!

That is really something, Root! I woulda thought they'd fight WANTING to drive it. Unbelievable. And here I am searching out a '24 Dodge from high school days with Classmates.com. Sheesh.
You don't want it..., Face it the damn thing is old, hasn't run at all..., the tires are probably dry-rotted and you'd Just have another fuel injection problem..., then you'd have the worlds slowest FED as well...! For that reason I'm willing to take both of your fuel injected Problems off of your hands for free....! Think of it as a favor to you...! (please..., please..., please...!) Mark
Got his name, address and phone number. Dad's calling him to "reminisce" and accidentally bring up the car. I asked a few more questions and dad says they actually found a driver and it made a couple of passes but nothing hard. He also said it was a factory built chassis of some kind. No home built stuff. He is gonna ask if nothing else, let us take some pics.
dad just called...he just got off the phone with the guy and he is interested in checking out our cc. He told dad that later on he took on the task of driving and competed on a regular basis. He said NHRA changed the weight to CID rule on him and he was too light so he quit. Dad told him about the Kontinentals and the Hamb drags and he seemed interested. We are having a meeting on Friday and we are hoping to spark an old flame.... Maybe he will pull it out of mothballs. Cross your fingers.
