jeezus, the guys making an effort. if someone makes a half-***ed effort, you piss and moan that it ain't enough. if someone made an all out effort and lived like the Amish, you'd STILL say it wasn't enough, while calling him a stupid ****ing tree hugger. at least he's ****ing trying...what have YOU done to try to change the situation? nothing more than piss and moan about high gas prices.

nobody here is old enough to remember the birth of the automobile. it was a prohibitively expensive, impractical toy only for the rich people. it didn't have much driving range before it would break down, and didn't go very fast. everybodt that had a horse talked **** about the automobile. fortunately a few brave souls stuck to their guns, and worked hard to make them cheaper, faster, ,more reliable to the point that you can drive a cheap economy car many thousands of miles with zero maintanance at a high rate of speed. we've come a long way despite the naysaying of the guys who sat on their horses *****ing about automobiles.

electric technology WILL evolve. remember the cell phones of the 80's? same damn thing. they were huge and expensive with big batteries that didn't hold a charge very long, as people bought into the concept they got cheaper, smaller and better, largely because people bought the stupid things.

i love my internal combustion powered hot rods as much as the next guy here, but i realize we can't keep driving them forever as much as we'd like to. so i applaud every effort to wean us off the oil ***ty. it has to be done. i hope the naysayers feel proud a few decades from now, when gas is $10 a gallon, when your children ask what you did when it was recognized that a crisis was looming, and all you can do is tell them "nothing". it was too expensive, too inconvenient for you to bother to care what kind of world you were to leave them. i'm sure they'll be proud of you.

  2. Hey, OldsGuy- if it really is "all about the torque", you can't do any better than an electric motor. The torque "curve" is perfectly flat, ie 100% from 1 RPM to as high as the motor will spin. Of course, you'd have to use all those batteries to run a herkin' big sound system to play recorded engine sounds.
To quote Dale Gribble "quite a quandry".

According to what he said on one of the late shows, he copped a plea and did 6 months in exchange for them not also prosecuting his wife and son for his "Crime"
His crime was selling short sections of PVC pipe, ironically, available in bulk in any Home DePOT in the country, with a small hole drilled in the side of the piece of common plumbing and a decal picture of himself.
Seems it's illegal to sell decal pictures of comedians on eBay if they come attached to sewer pipe...
He said he copped the plea because the cops, Feds I think, were going to go after his family too because they had ***isted in the "shipping and handling" of the "plumbing supplies."
He also said there wasn't anyone called "Bruno" in the jail he was in.

more or less right. IIRC chong sold pretty nice gl*** smoking utensels. i could be wrong, but it sure wasn't PVC, it gives off toxic fumes when heated and NO manufacturer uses it, acrylic IS used.

his big mistake that caused him to get busted, was being too casual about the loophole that allows headshops and others to sell "bongs". that loophole being you can't say the word bong. it's a waterpipe for smoking tobacco products. those are legal, bongs are not. stupid ****ing semantics. anyway an undercover fed agent called wanting a large order of bongs and Tommy obliged. oops. sadly the bust using him as an example worked very well, spooking many very talented gl*** blowers into going straight. i know there's certain hambers who could tell more about this, but they shall remain nameless.

You have confused Homeless chicks for Hippie Chicks, Nads. Hippies are clean from skinny dipping. I wasn't going to answer, but the mental image of you with your nose in an armpit won't leave my mind. You might really enjoy Tweeker Chicks, 'cause they sweat like horses and their perspiration smells of chemicals. They are easily found in the back parking rows at your local truck stop. Ask a long hauler to point out the "Lot Lizards". Happy hunting, Nads…
