I feel silly even typing this but I'm a nervous wreck! I've never lost my sense when trying to deal on a car or part but I have on this one.

I've posted pics of this several times, so it's really nothing new.

Long story short cause I've gotta go but I want you all to say a prayer to the karma god:cool: for me about this deal...

This is a 34 coupe that my grandpa built right after the war.....it HAD a 3/4 flatty, 39 tranny and hydralic brakes that he put in it......

It has been sitting since around 49 in a barn, where it is sitting right now...

I think of this hot rod in my sleep and at work.....even when I'm making love to the wife:eek:

Wish me the best, I need it!

I can't even think straight! It's a long shot, but worth a try....

EDIt: I'm gonna take my camera and try to get a few but I may not even get to see it.....strange situation!

Well, I can put the dreams to rest.

At first glance I thought, this is it! I gotta have this car. After I crawled over many things to get close to it..........it was ROUGH!!! Wow, it broke my heart, man......

I honestly don't know what to say. I'm still at a loss......

The pics HELP it a lot......the roof and deck lid weren't too bad......

It is rough, but not too rough considering some of the recent deuce threads. Are you sure it's the same car? This one still has the wire wheels where your pic has later solid 15 inchers. Also has fenders with it.

IMHO, after the disappointment of it's condition goes away you'll still be sorry if you don't get it.

    No, didn't get it......sorry I wasn't clear...still disapointed!

Yeah, the right guy to save it but I'm telling you, it looks like it has been through floods....but it was up on higher ground....

He didn't want to part with it yet anyway. If the price was really right, I'd consider it.....I'll keep an eye oni it......things change......

EDIt: you're right on the wheels..i didn't notice that either......so we learned, it was traded off for a short while (storeage shed wasn't as dry as this one seemed to be.....but this guy got it back about a year after grandpa traded it to him......the ole man (grandpa's buddy) passed away and the son has it now).......

the ole fella grandpa traded it to had told grandpa for years that he picked up some fenders at hershey for it and a grill (where it went....we don't know)

    one last thing.....

i know it was his because of the pitman arm and the "air plane type" shocks on it...grandpa put them on it....that's why i took the pics of them.....

Yea, that is an interesting pitman arm and shock setup. What's the pitman arm? The rear shock brackets look like front mounts from a '46-48.

Oh, and I'd start probing grampa for details now. You never know, if you end up with the car in another 20 years you'll wish you'd asked more about it now. Does he know you found it?

Even though it may be "rough", it would be worth more to you than any "perfect" car you'd ever find. If you can possibly afford it, you should offer up MORE than the actual value for the car. You can always make more money, but if someone else happens to hit the guy up at just the right moment, it may be gone forever.

I know. I was the other guy once that bought a 32 Coupe that the locals had been trying to buy for 40 years, just because I happened to drive by once when it's tarp had blown off and the guy had just decided he needed a riding lawn mower worse than that old Deuce.

By the way, the car is actually a 33. Your Grandpa musta changed the grille to a 34 way back when.

    Damn it, i'm serious here!
You need to take a second loan out and buy that car.
You will never ever forgive yourself for letting it get by.
Don't let funds stop you on this car.
Its more important than any car you will ever see or come across in your lifetime. Now get over there!

YOU MUST OWN THAT CAR! Take out a second mortgage, sell a bodily organ, do whatever it takes or you'll spend a long time (rest of your life) kicking yourself in the ass for letting it slip away. Good luck, we're all pulling for you!:D

There's an old saying here in Wisconsin: "You only get the chance to buy your neighbor's farm once." That goes for your grandfather's hot rod too!! Whatever the condition or price, you don't want this to be "the one that got away". Good luck with it. :)

Right now I'm thinking of all the cars that have been in my family that I never got a chance to see in person, let alone have the chance to buy. If I had this chance that you have I'd sell every ride I have and take the bus, and I REALLY hate riding the bus!

    Buy that car damnit!

that shit will buff right out... I kid you not, YOU THINK THATS ROUGH???

They make every patch panel to fix it... frames seem to be up for grabs everywhere...

Dude you need to get that car.

it really isn't for sale.....a price didn't even come up.......

from everyone's perspective on here, i see where you all of you are coming from......i can honestly say that there are probably less than 10 people on the face of this earth that even know the car is there.....all but two or so are family members....all those that would have known or cared are dead.....

i know you guys will think i'm full of crap when i say this, but that car won't be going anywhere....at least soon......if you could just see this place....there are thousands of things on this property (tractors, dozers, etc) that are rotting away and they won't sell them (not that they are obligated.....don't want to start that debate).......what i mean is, these people sell NOTHING......they have money but you wouldn't dream it.......actually they are distant family to me.......

i know many of you are thinking BULL! i know, timing is EVERYTHING and situations and things change....it will come for sale some day....but i'm afraid it'll be much worse by then.....

i feel comfortable stopping in now (the keeper of the car is ROUGH...jail....booze, etc.....but he has cleaned up a lot) he was a friendly fella....much different than what grandpa had said his disposition was a few years back....

anyway...long story......i'll keep an eye on the ole' girl...we drive by every now and again to see if things are changing.....if the opportunity presents......

  28. I'm gonna echo Tuck.....if you don't make the effort, (A) you're gonna regret it BAD, (B) you've got issues....

From where I stand, I'd give my Right 'Chad' for that rusty old hunk....both if it was my grand fathers.....

I can appeciate the predicament, especially the "its' not for sale" statement, but if you get on 'ok' with the guy, and you illustrate the passion, and family connection, I'd keep chipping away at it....
