I feel your pain, Butt...only I'd opt for a Chevy/GMC rig and a Danni Leigh CD! [IMG]

(Her first album came out a few years ago, and totally floored me...by far the BEST new talent outta Nashville since the mid 80s! Check it out...if you like Gretchyn, you'll dig Danni as well!)

So...ya wanna hang out, drink some cheap beer and go to a mud bog sometime??? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Ok,as much as i hate to admit this, being a hard core rock-n-roller (and i do mean HARD CORE). My wife has to have the radio on when she sleeps and can't listen to rock and roll(to heavy for her to sleep by), so any she listens to the local Country Western station and i have to admit theres a lot of stuff i hear that i like (specialy the womens cooing or cruning what ever). Had to think about it when i first realized it was hap'nin , then it dawned on me that this weird and was going mellow, iv just gotten versital in my tastes. Now i can go from Heavy Metal to Country in a split second! Who woulda ever guessed four years ago [IMG]

    So is repeating yourself....... [IMG]

Big & Rich have some pretty unique music as well. And Los Lonely Boys are bad-ass. I'm a country listener- wear a cowboy hat, boots & Wrangler jeans just about every day.

Looks kinda funny though when I'm jammin' to some Iron Maiden...... [IMG]

I bought that CD for my wife's birthday, I like it, and I hate country. My girls like it too, the 8 year old wanted to listen to it one night last week, she put it in the CD player in the wife's car, wouldn't play. Turns out that she hit the small crack in the dash ABOVE the cd player.

Man, I hate to take the dash apart to get that CD....

Hey BR, come to Winchester some time and we'll go frog giggin' [IMG]

Music is just like cars, different ones affect us in different ways, I have to admit the only new country I can stomach is by females though. The newer guys sing more pop type crap. Guess I'll stick to my classic rock [IMG]

When i was younger all my friends listened to the 80's rock and roll stuff, and some listened to rap..
I did listen to the rock some too, but was never really into the rap..
I hung out a lot with my dad so the main music i listened to was 50's and 60's rock and roll, and some of the older country stuff 'cause thats what he was into..

I like southern rock, and a lot of the old 'Outlaw' country stuff, so i started to check out the local counrty station a few years back..now i find myself tuned in more to that than anything else, when the radio is on.
Most of the time i listen to cd's..
and i alway's have a cd ready and waiting for the shit counrty song to come on when i'm listening to the radio.. [IMG]

there's plenty of good current country that you'll never hear on the radio. do yourself a favor and pick up Tift Merrit's cd. i found her when she did a duet cd with the two dollar pistols John Howie. check them out to. most of the good stuff is either listed as americana or alt. country. your close enough you should enjoy nashville stuff like BR549 also. there's a huge list these are just a few. hell if it's of interest to you pm me your address and i'll burn you a cd with some stuff. modern radio country in 99% shit. there a lots of current country and western bands that play traditional country and western and do it well. hell alot of them are punk kids that grew up on c&w and are just reverting to their roots...ken....

    Glad it's not just me!
Some of the new songs are fast, lots of guitar, fun shit that makes you drive really fast if you're not paying attention--Just like good rock does. (can anybody drive slow with Get Out of Denver or Great Balls 'o Fire?)
And listenin' to Gretchin sing about gettin' some ain't bad either!

We moved to Georgia a year and a half ago; already been stuck in the mud in a 4x4, bought a little camoflaged boat for bass fishin' that fits in the bed of my Dakota, and bagged my limit in squirrels the last time I went out last season.

On a good note, my 9-year-old has started liking country a lot, and actually requested some CDs for this Christmas: last time I payed any attention, country music isn't usually an integral part of that whole "teenage rebellion" thing, so we ain't gonna discourage his intrest none.

Check out Rex Hobart and the Misery Boys or anything on Bloodshot records.

I just clicked on the site and it is having trouble, but check out Rex Hobart and the Misery boys (he used to play in a punk band in KC back in the day). Also, click thru the Bloodshot records site, there is alot of "soul country" there.

It's a phase, Sammy. I went thru it when I was your age(groan [IMG])--got over it...and I've been livin' here most all my life(the South, that is)
Now if you were acquiring a taste for show tunes, I'd say you were gay. Definitely gay. [IMG] [IMG]

  19. I always hated country nusic until a few years ago when I was spending time with my GF's family in S. FL fishing and they won't listen to anything else. It kinda grows on you.

We have a new()er radio station around here that plays the Gretchen Wilson/Big & Rich/Kenny Chesney to death, but about every third sony is Lynryd Skynryd, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Eagles, George Thoroughgood, Tom Petty, Black Crows and later on at night, maybe a Motley Crue or a Poison song once in a while.

I kinda like having a station on that doesn't play the same kind of music all the time, so I leave it on for my 7 minute commute to work

plus MY SHOP IS A BARN! but I do have an old Sex Pistols poster above my workbench. [IMG]

Now I only hate bad rap and opera. [IMG]

When country music first came out it was a simple music for simple people. Now its just pop music not real country.

  23. My wife just picked me up a CD the other day because the name of it reminded her of a group some friends have in Massachusetts(not exactly red-neck country) and I like it!The name of the group is Old Crow Medicine Show.Check them out sometime.Oh yeah the group in Mass is called As the Crow Flies.

O.K., I'll try to keep this short. First off if you were ever a real punk rocker, you wouldn't be caught dead listening to modern country. Now modern country and classic country are two totally different birds. Modern country is basically the same stuff on the pop station, they just hide it with a steel guitar and a phoney twangy voice. Modern country is a catch all for those with not enough spine to pick their own style, instead they pick the most easily acceptable niche. Modern country is evil, and it is my goal in life to lead an educated rebellion to have it stricken from the earth, and henceforth make it a better place to live, and to raise our children. Rant over.

Brother, let us do an intervention before it's too late. Step away from the Nashville Korporate Kuntry Kulture. Now quick, there's no time to waste, put on some Clash and shave one side of your hair and pomp the rest. Trust me, it's the only cure. [IMG] [IMG]

i like almost all music... punk, hardcore, metal, new and old folk, grindcore, jazz, emo, screemo, garage (60's to modern), but there are two types of music i can't stand... hip hop and country. of course there are acceptions that make the rule (beasties, cypress hill, basehead, guru, hank jr. and sr., cash, hasil adkins, neko case ect.). most hip hop and country seem to cater to about a 10th graders mentality, but you can always find something good if you are open minded and know where to look. corprate radio is trash. there is so much good music still being created today, but you will only find about 1 percent of it being played on the corprate radio stations. for the good music in any genre, you have to look to the left side of your dial and find the college stations and pirate radio stations. that is where the real shit is!
