Never ever go to a flee market or sale show late. Always go early in the am or just don't bother

  4. I would be done and packed by 2- 2:30 at a swap meet. I usually would get up at 3 or 4 AM to drive and setup by 7.

  6. Most of us that go to Maple Grove swap meets have gotten burned by that one. Go there early or you will miss it. Also, usually the fliers say Sat. and Sun. The two times I went on Sunday there weren't enough vendors to fill a McDonalds parking lot.

Swap meets typically start by 7 am - by 1-1:30 pm you can bet some vendors are already packed up and heading home since they've probably been up at least 8-10 hours, especially if they haven't sold anything and have better things to do.

Who really goes to a swap meet after 9 am ? You got to get there early if you want any chance of finding anything you need.

And usually the things you want are the same things other people want. First up, best dressed is another saying that applies. JW

Being a car guy I know to go to the swap meets early. Usually about 1 hour before the listed start time. Sometimes I even help a stranger unload his truck. I once went to a motorcycle swap meet got there about 6 am. only to discover the biker guys were 10am start guys. They couldn't figure why someone would get there early for a swap meet.

Swap meet listed start time of 7am really means 6am.
Swap meet listed end time of 3pm really means 1pm.

I was there at 6:45 am. Got a 32 heavy axle, 42 square back spindles with new kingpins , F-1 shock mounts, F-1 drums and hubs, a 39 Trans case, neat tail lights, 32 Ford door handles, a couple of body hammers, a cool set of guages and an egg sandwhich.

  18. We drive 5 1/2 hours down from Connecticut on Friday. get a motel, get up at 5:00AM, to get to the track by 6:AM. we do our shopping, and usually leave by noon to go home. the early bird gets the worm. and as appropriate for a drag strip, You snooze, you lose. get up early, or stay home.

We left our home in MD at 6am and arrived at MG about 7:45. I was surprised there was no line to get in; but after we got to the parking lot we realized the crush came even earlier. If you've been there, we parked all the way in the back against the wire fence. The vendors had filled most of the paved area and by the time we left at 11:30 they had sold a few dozen spaces on the grassy area below. We made a single pass and bought several nice items for cheap! At $5 admission and free parking, it IS Carlisle in the early years. No cheap tool vendors, no off-shore sock sellers- just motorheads selling stuff back and forth. Can't wait for the spring version.
