Yesterday was such a nice day here in Michigan, I just had to get the roadster out and cruise around a little. That doesn't happen very often around here. When do the rest of you guys that live in northern states get your cars out?
I won't have the one with nice paint out until we get a nice, heavy rain to wash off the roads. I've had the Falcon out twice this week, but it's filthy and needs a bath now. -Dave
When I had nice cars I would get em out when the roads were dry even if there was still snow on the grass. Now that Ive got a car thats still rough around the edges I drive all the time
I had the coupe out yesterday to stretch her legs. The rural part of where I live was teaming with unmarked cop cars. The coppers know they can pick a few off on one of the first nice days of the year.
Hey Rich !,... If your having lunch with Frank, Scott & Karla today, tell them Hi for me, one of these days I might show up and surprise you. Of course it was on the "stretcher" but here you go,..
Hi Dennis, Frank and I had lunch Wednesday (Scott had to work) and it was on the way home from Bay City that I decided I needed a hot rod fix. Stop by some Wednesday.
Dang !,... I thought it was Thursday that you guys got together,...I'm glad I didn't drive down to surprise you !,... I would have been the one that got surprised ! Not wanting to redirect your thread,.... but. The weather was great yesterday,...I ended up reassembling this for my buddy Ed, That ol' 392 looks like all shoulders behind the grill shell !
Dennis, Didn't you know that Ed Cole designed the SBC so you could close the hood on a '32 Ford? Gee!! I thought everyone knew that. I'll drop off a 350 tomorrow...............just leave the Hemi outside the garage door and I'll pick it up. Sometimes I wonder why I'm so nice to people. Frank
After 3 good hard rains to wash the salt away. I learned this from taking my Harley out to soon in the season 40+ years ago. Experience is the first thing you get right after you need it.
I went to a few buddys houses on christmas and did burn outs in front of their houses, I drove it once in January, then tore the top end off, for a valve job. I got it together yesterday, did final adjustments today new antifreeze, and oil/filter. But there is still to much salt out. Maybe the rain will wash it away, its supposed to be in the 60's everyday next week, and sun I might add. Hey city plow truck drivers..... No more salt please!!!!!!
I always set the date for April 15th- gives the rains a chance to rid the roads of the salt- but it is MI- have had them out New Years Eve one year- we just got 20 plus inches of snow less than a week ago- then high 50's the next 2 days- today below freezing- how do you ever know-
Yup, at 66 degrees I had to take the Fairlane out to blow off some dust. A beautiful day for sure here in Michigan on March 7th. Now today the 8th? Different story! Enjoyed the early spring day though.
I put around a hundred miles on mine out around 4 times with it all day and night. It felt great Darrell
I'm envious Rich, my sedan is still sittin in the trailer from bringing it back from autorama. Just trying to get other peoples stuff completed so I can get back on mine to drive this summer.
And in Michigan we don't get hurricanes. Everything's a trade off. I sure would like to visit you all down there, though. That's where my grandparents got married, 70 years ago. -Dave
Yes , gotta let that salt residue wash off , the powder left on the road can get into all the nooks and crannys.
We had the roadster out earlier this week for it's first shake down trip....took it out for dinner. I'm hoping the weekend is better than what they're saying right now.
Took the long beezer out for a short coffee run. Hopefully my wheels show up so I can get the roadster out Sunday...supposed to be near 60!
