March Meet, Bakersfield...ROLL CALL!!!

sounds like a great weekend! The motorhome is about 3/4 way down the track in the front row. Are you staying out there the whole weekend? If so, where are you at location wise? I will stop by and say hi.

 

be there on Sat. only.....so it's going to be a loooong day...but I'm sure it'll be worth it.....

 

Ill be there all weekend....i may have caught a break with my wagon, so look for the 60 ford....

 

I'll be on the pit side and if it is anything like last year I will be a couple of rows up from the timeslip booth!! Long haul from there up to the staging lanes! Look for a 3 flag combination flying above our pit which consists of an American flag on top, a pirate flag with the legend "Surrender the Booty" below that, and a plain black Iron Cross on a white back ground below and off to the side. Easiest way to find your rig in a sea of rigs. Stop on by, it turns out that your wife and my ole lady were in school together last year so they already know each other. Look for us around lunch time on Saturday as the ole lady always makes some great home made Mexican food. We're getting pretty well known for the lunch spread and she loves to hand out tacos!

I'm loading up tonight and will be out there around noon tomorrow setting up and getting the car tech'd then it's 3 & 1/2 days of fun in the sun and going fast!

 

Is Friday worth going for? Other commitments for the Sat, Sun (Pomona) weekend.

 

My wife just said louder then she normally does...yeah she does make some great Mexican food!

Save us a Taco! hehe...we will make sure and come by and say hi.

and to no55mad...Friday is fun too. I like to go fridays to hit the swap meet before the saturday crowd hits it. friday hit the swapmeet for the early stuff...saturday hit it since all the sellers will be there...sunday hit the swap meet for specials since most people would rather sell it then haul it around.

 

Well, I'm here .. I think you could of waited till Thursday late and still had a spot to camp ?

Might fill up tomorrow but, doubt it ..

I have a rental car in Bakersfield if anyone is running a errand
and can drop me off and give me a ride back so I can return that
pos to Bakersfield ..BE allot of running around for someone
so, if its a big pain don't worry about it ..Fergen and i can do it if he ever gets here

But, sure could use a sandwich or beer if anyone has extra

If you have wheels (you got there) go get some food. Not like anyone will steal your spot..
Today..

I went to buy swap spots on a Thursday, it was already pretty full.
I marked them off with caution tape, etc.
Came back Friday AM, some pricks were in my spot, all my tape, etc was wadded up in a ball.
I was really pissed.
Make sure if you leave your spot you have somebody watching.

 

I am getting so damn excited.

yup yup...i am ready to go!!! I am planning on taking tons of pics of everything. I figure if I am going to be there the whole weekend from sun up till sun down i should be able to get a wide variety of photos.

I have never bought anything from the swap meet but my friends always seem to find something that they want.

Your car looked great from the tower.... Sign on the door was a little small to see, but I'm old so maybe it was ok. Ya ran well...

 

Yeah the sign is too small and the font makes it even harder to read. My own kids have missed me before by not being able to read it!

Car did great and the driver (me) did very well!!! I still can't get over the fact that I won! Doesn't seem real some how. Man what a day!! If you guys weren't there you missed a hell of a weekend!

I put an 11.59 on the car and went 7 rounds without breaking out except the final pass as once I saw my win light (opponent red lit) I started freaking out and kept the car hammered well past the finish line and ran a 11.58!! If there were any pictures taken of me as I crossed the line you would have seen me with my right hand in the air with the devil horns waving while I was screaming at the top of my lungs!!!

I'll post racing times and descriptions later when I have more time. I'm at work right now and catching up on the stuff I fell behind on Thursday and Friday.

 

I made it down there on Sunday! We put the car in Rod & Kulture's booth and everything went real well. Big thanks to Zombie and his crew! By the time I got home it was nearly 48 hours without sleep...and the ROADS on the way down were !@#$ed UP. I spent the daylight hours watching my rail bounce a foot in the air, and the night time hours wondering if it was still back there. KOOKY.

There were some badass cars down there and I met quite a few people from the HAMB (awesome). Coby from CHURCH officially became a sponsor and is a damn fine human being as well. All in all it was an insane thrash, but aside from a couple fittings that showed up late and the absence of a 2000 dollar starting system, we're ready to run...er, well, ready except for those things, a fire suit and maybe 5 grand extra at the end of my month!!!!!!! !@#$ man, my car might be a tire smoker, but it ain't "the old days" anymore boys. Wow, thanks. Yep John Madijasic and I did the sportsman classes. I started each day trying wake ya all up. I also did some of the pros on Sunday as the other guys wanted to be on the starting line.

I was on the line for Funnies and t/f. Something about those cars up close and personal that is a real rush.

Hope I was able to inform and entertain ya.
