Been sitting on this bit of info for a couple of days, but it's time to share, I'm very upset. Remember the '56 Chevy Wagon I was buying off a pal o mine? Well, I find this hard to believe, but it turnes out he didn't own it, and had no authority to try and sell it. I'm not going to dwell on it, it's over. What bugs me more than losing a killer deal, is being taken for a ride by someone I thought was a friend.
Before anyone asks, no money changed hands thank God.

You'r not a Fool. You just got taken on a ride by one.
You've still got your money, all your fingers, and didn't have to spend time in Jail over this.
And 10 yers from now,it will probably seem like a funny story.

A fool is someone who will destroy a friendship, and his own reputation.

You weren't the fool. You trusted a "friend". Nothing you could have done different.

A similiar story happened to my sister by one of her "best" friends. My sister was looking for a SUV and her "friend", who she has known for over 10 years and worked 40+ hours per week with and did social stuff together, had a friend with a SUV for sale. Turns out the SUV was stolen and my sisters "friend" knew it and was planning on taking a cut of the profit if she got my sister to buy it.

Needless to say when the guy came over with the SVU for my sister to look at, and he didn't have a****le, and it turned out to be brand spanking new, with too good of a price, my sister passed on the purchase, thinking that something was up. Since my sister didn't buy it, they threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it.

So called "friends" can screw you just as well as strangers and sometimes there is nothing you can do about it except for put the experience in the lessons learned file.

Denise, I can see her saying that now. She's seen the kind of friends you bring around and she's scared. Can you blame her? [IMG] You all still using her garage for storage while her car sits outside?

    Mart,

You didn't loose any money, and you got to find out what your friend was good for...good thing he didn't have to rescue you from a burning house, or something !!

But, yes, you probably lost some sleep dreaming about your plans for the car ! [IMG]

And ladycruiser: you need some new friends [IMG]

    Have a productive weekend!

Mart, there is nothing foolish about trusting a friend.
The other guy is a fool for******** that friendship away.

One thing I have learned in life... there are very few people in this world worthy of being called friends. In all honesty... we are lucky if we ever have a real friend. I am lucky to have many friends.

Man that*****s, not only about the car, but about who you THOUGHT was a freind... been there... ya feel stupid for thinking you knew someone... not your fault, you weren't expecting a sneaky********.

Ever notice that those who deserve it most usually WIND UP IN HELL even before they die??? I'm guilty of having found that gratifying a few times.

And man, Denise, I hope that**** who threatened your sister has a moment to reflect upon his*****ty life of misdeeds before it abruptly ends...

Uh... my aploogies for being so dark, I really had a great day today, this thread just reminded me of a couple bad ones, thats all!

Been there too Mart! The betrayal IS the worst part. Mine involved a close friend I would have following into fire who skipped town and left me with a pile of bills and unfinished work for a part time business we had together. That was twenty years ago and I haven't had a close friend since! Once bitten - twice shy! [IMG]

Mart, look on the bright side,if you can call it that, but just think if you`d started in on the `56 and spent time and money on it and then had to give it back.Tuff luck mate,it`s bad enough being slotted by a stranger but by a mate(so called)makes it hard to take.

Don`t know what the weathers` like in Solli today but it`s clear an` blue here...get in old Rusty and take it for a blast on the back roads...it`ll soon be `56? what `56?...
