It,s a lot of money spent but as I see it , I want a car that runs good and dont take that much gas as the gas price is dubble up in Sweden. I belive the atomic will give a better gas per milage compared to a carb and therefor i'll might get the money back in time.

I left the hairpins to a friend who put them in some kind of acid to get the crome off and today I got them back. Powder coated semi gloss black, sooo much better :)

Awesome pedal assembly. Can we see how you did the bearings and lever attachment? Thanks!

Very simple, used the lathe to get a skateboard bearing fit on each side. The lever sits on the bolt only and the outside tube does not move.

I have also started to mount the electrical components behind the dash.

  19. Martin, awesome build - one of my faves and such an influence that I had to go find an Adler grille shell - I've got an NOS one currently on it's way from Germany!

A question about your built throttle pedal, how do you get the consistent radius on the ground brackets? Are these ground down by hand or do you have a tool that will radius the plate steel?

    Steve

  20. Very neat, I'm loving this build and I wish you'd post more often!

Are you going to use this plate to mount something on the fire wall? Will it look odd sitting there by itself?

Glad to here that you liked the Adler grille .
Nice that you find a grille, i dont think they grow on trees so to speak.

The rounded edges make the parts feeling 46 years older then they really are.
I do it by hand with a normal grinding machine. Its the "feeling" in you hands that is the deal.
On normal steel I go with 80 and then 240 grid and at last the sisal .
If you want the edge stainless go 80,120,240,320 and sisal.

It takes a good eye, feel and practice to get an edge radius that smooth and even.
Good work Martin. I hate the square, band sawed look of the billet stuff too.
What are you going to use for the pedal itself?
    For Steve's question:
That can be done with a corner-rounding endmill, but following the curvy profile would be a pain to do without a CNC.
For those that know and have access to CNC equipment, you would program using the small diameter of the cutter- eg 1/4 stock use 1/8 CR tool- with the depth of cut being the radius or a little less, then adjust TLO to get full radius. RPM would be calculated using the largest diameter of the cutter.
Those who don't know CNC, sorry for the gibberish.
It could be done with a rotary table on a manual mill, but very time consuming. Each radius on the profile would have to be set up, indicated in and then cut...on both sides of each piece = hours.
Martin probably did all that in about 30 minutes or less.

    Typical corner rounding endmill:

Thanks Tom, and I wish I was faster in the shop and had something interesting to post more often ;)

The plate is a outside washer in stainless steel for the gas pedal. It will be painted in the same color as the firewall and I belive it is goin to "melt" in better when painted.
    Cheers

I dont know yet what to do with the pedals, both brake and gas. I probably make some models for it and sandcast it in aluminum.....I have to think about it ;)

I forgot to show the pic of the drop bracket, better late then ever ;)
The reason why it has one rounded side is to make clearence for the most left-hand gauge.

I have been scratching my head for some days about were to have the needed start key, lightbuttons and such things.
So this last saturday I started with a hitech drawing that is the lower line of the dash.
