The right hand side part is the one that will end up in the door, the other parts is for the resess tool.

All together and the sheetmetal that gets the resess id in the middle
Used the bench vise to press it.

Here it is, made the hole in the waterjet.
Now it just needs to be welded into the door.

Today I did a new floor center section that is to be over the trans, I wanted it to be removeable and the thing I did 2 years ago looks totaly ugly.
First thing I did was a 1" square frame that will be welded into the floor. Next thing was the "lid" that has a cone made in the english wheel.
Later on there will also be a aluminum frame that is around the cone and holds the carpet in place.thats why there is holes around it.

:)That is cool! :cool:hmm but it seems like overkill =lots of screwen . doh:rolleyes:, maybe not you are looking directly at it.;) Stainless screws?

I saw a tech way of bolting floor panels down. You may want to use it some where ,sometime.= short piece(3/8 to 1/2 inch tall) of tube or round stock with a hole in it ,threaded and countersunk , tack weld in place , when the cover panel is attached the screw /bolt creates a depression into the counter sunk hole. When tight the top of the screw/bolt is flush. :D

Might be a lot of screws, rather too many then to less and i think the panel
    wont be removed so often.
The panel holes is countersunk and the screws will be flat and hidden under the carpet.
The only visable screws is the once around the cone that holds the aluminum frame.
Anyway, you tech way sounds like a really good one :)

I like the countersunk rod thing, but how floppy will the panel sheet be between the rods. And it is goin to be like a big "dirt pocket" were they are.
Maybe a good one would be the same thing but have the countersunk rods underneth a sheet with holes instead of being on top of the edge.........hmmm, I need to think ;)
    Thanks for the advise.

I wondered that too ,but after looking at it a few minutes I believe the bolted down panel over laps the higher edge which means the tubes are the same level or a few thousandths lower than the highest part. I idea is cool but maybe you can find a better use for it. It reminds me of a hatch/door retainer system,
