My guess is transmission fluid and fuel oil.

Somewhere I read that it is highly refined sewing machine oil with coloring and cinnamon oil added. They were one of the last to quit selling in metal cone top style containers before going to plastic bottles.

According to the current MSDS it is mineral spirits, naptha(which is a higher grade of mineral spirits), and some chlorinated hydrocarbon which is a solvent. NO lubricant is listed. I believe it was oily at one time. Apparently that isn't the case anymore. If you think about it, even if it was ALL lubricant, putting the entire can in 15 or 20 gallons of gas is a very weak mixture.

I know it's magic, and there are testimonials, but...... Adding oil to the fuel is exactly what you DON'T want on a high performance engine. The solvents it contains are not an improvement over gasoline. Adding it to the oil to hopefully free up a lifter is a valid use. Whether Marvel Mystry Oil is better or worse than other products for that is more a matter of belief than documentable fact. I like the way it smells.

Engine/Auto Storage......Or, Puttin' IT up for the winter.
Engine running, pour Marvel Misery Oil into carb until it dies........Periodod, odd-uklee, pull sparking plugs, and pour Marvel into cyliners, rotate engine, fill cylinders again, replace plugs. Keeps yer motor Clean, like Ennergine !
Old School Collector proved this to me !
