  1. Oh, you mean the mix ratio? 4 ounces per 10 gallons of fuel. I have used more Marvel than that with no ill effects on performance.

It just plain works. Almost as good as Seafoam.

  3. What T-man said. It has caused problems in vintage/antique aircraft: A Marvel Mystery Oil sample tested for an NTSB post aircraft accident investigation published in 2003 found it to be composed of 74 percent mineral oil, 25 percent stoddard solvent, and 1 percent lard.[3]

If it's good enough for a 5 cylinder Kennerer Radial, it's good enough for me/

During engine assembly I oil the cylinder walls with it. If I do a carbon ball on a refresh I wipe down the cylinder walls with it an white paper towels or tee shirt rags. I wipe until there only red on the white, may take 4-5 times.

  7. If you use good oil and change the oil & filter regularly you shouldn't have to add anything to it. Now the fuel we have is often crappy. I add some diesel or 2 cycle oil to the corn gas in my older stuff that was made for leaded gas. I do the same with the diesel fuel in my old equiptment todays diesel is dry not as oily as what was available in the 40,s and 50,s

Not MMO but some 2 cycle in the mowers if using ethanol tainted gas. Had problems with a valve guide on one head pulling out. Started adding oil and the problem stopped. I try now to only use non ethanol in the mowers. more expensive but not when you figure in the aggravation and money/time to repair. would use MMO if i didn't already have 2 cycle oil.

Yeah, It sure as hell "caused problems" because the dumb shit had installed about 4 or 5 gallons in the fuel tank. LOL

Like I said, the old school recip guys used to purchase it by the drum. It's good stuff.

  10. I'll just add one piece of info about Marvel, and it has to do with farm tractors and butane many years ago.
Back when IH had the Farmall M tractor as their most powerful tractor in their offerings, they also offered a butane fuel tractor. This was back when ethyl and the octanes were kings.
Because of the cylinder heads not having hardened valve seats, the butane fuel source and lack of tetraethyl to lubricate them, as a gasoline engine would have, farmers installed Marvel Mystery Oilers to send a jetted mist of that lubricant into the intake vacuum to prevent the valves from pulling through th valve seats.
I have some belief that this is the era that many folks came up with the ideal that MMO would be the solution to many other lubrication problems of that era.
On older diesel engines using current ULSD, lubricity is a major factor for the parts that are intended to be lubed and cooled by the characteristics of older diesel formulas.

I mix a bit with the fuel, but have run more through the carb directly, than through the tank...then again I don't live in the city limits;)
