Howdy all, I've been lurking here for a long while, soaking in the knowledge.

I'm finally ready to embark on a scratch built traditional roadster. I'll make a build thread here when I start.

I've built a few race cars to track but I've come to realize I like building more than racing. I like older cars more than the modern more and more.

Here's what I have at the moment.

My 85 BMW beater. I was gonna put more work into this one, like bags and the like , before realizing I really just need to make a roadster.
Only thing I've done to this is primer paint job, some detail things like a skate truck shifter, and sewn up a new interior.

Building a roof rack. It'll have wood planks across the top when done.

    The beater design.

    My race car.
This I've done a lot of work on. A flat blue paint job, bent and welded in a 10 point roll cage, fabed up some suspension bits, fire system, rebuilt engine with all forged goodies, blah blah.

I've collected all the tools and SOME of the know how building the racers. Starting this winter we'll see if I can apply that to the roadster.

One thing is for sure, I love the HAMB. The skill level and information here is some next level ****. I'll definitely try to add any valuable info I can.

I just think everyone is a little confused about your car interests. The cars you have pictured are not even remotely "HAMB friendly". That being said, you may be still interested in the types of vehicles that are built and discussed here. If that is the case, welcome and enjoy, and by all means participate. It looks like you have some good skills. Hope you are headed in the right direction. If not, this site is not for you.....Don.

Hmm... I thought this was where you introduce yourself, background, etc. Guess they've been driving a chopped kustom since birth.

Maybe those ????? posters thought it was a picture book, failed to read I was here to build a roadster.

I have the capacity to handle multiple interests but yah besides this thread ,(where I thought appropriate), I'll only go on about the roadster build and the like.

  11. I think the boys figured you were going to make a roadster out of that beemer.

All we're asking for is a little enlightenment. Maybe you could fill us in on what kind of roadster you are planning on building. Second Amendment is right. We don't know if you're interests lie in "Beemer Roadsters" or something more traditional. Nothing wrong with liking both. We just ask for a little narrower focus on here.Once again, welcome .:)

Haha, as awesome as that sounds no bimmer roadsters for me. I just figured since I said "traditional roadster" and being on the HAMB, it would just be obvious what I meant but looking at some of the other intros I understand the need for clarification.

I've already started with buying the steel for a frame and currently looking for a front axle. I'm gonna try my hand at making a bobtailed t-bucket roadster with either period correct or hand made parts.

Build thread will be started soon.

  16. All right. I'm glad we got that cleared up.
    Welcome from Michigan.
