I've heard that for several years now a group of non-Billet , non-traditional hot rod people ( trying not to use the "R" word) get together in Massachusetts once a year. I believe that it has been held in Framingham , but the event is word of mouth, unadvertised ,and at different locations each year. Any Massachusetts people here know where and when ? Maybe it has passed. Just wondering. Thanks, John
I beleve it's.... Alter Boys Jalopy Jamboree . Just a save the date for the Alter Boys 10th annual Jalopy Jamboree. September 17th, 2011 and the rain date is the September 24th, 2011. Gates open at noon! Its being held at the same place, Amvets Post 79 in Natick, Mass. Ill post a flyer very soon. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=595652&showall=1
i figured that is what he meant. but he said NON traditional, and something about the R word, neither of which apply to their show. just sayin'...
i've heard about that show but the guy we heard it from didnt know the date. said it was by word of mouth. i've heard its a good show.
Downtown car show, Putnam CT, 8/14/11 This is a good show to head to.. Basically shut down the town around 2000 cars last year.. About an hr or so from Boston..
Manchester Cruise is rescheduled for the same day :/ Downtown Manchester 8/14 on Main street. I had heard the putnam cruise was cancelled due to the guy who organized it didnt want to do it anymore
As of Saturday night, Putnam is a go on 8/14. I haven't heard anything from anyone about it being cancelled.
No the Putnam show is still on..the Putnam cruse night every Saturday was the one that was going to shut down but thats still up and running in the sears kmart parking lot...With Manchester the same day I don't know what that will do to the turn out at ether or??
Thank you sir. I was thinking that it was primarily rat rods , but apparently I was mistaken. I'll make note of the dates.
we'll be attending the Manchester cruise if the weather holds up. Overall bigger turnout there (i think) and always neat stuff to look at. when we brought the car to putnam last year they parked us in a plaza parking lot by ourselves with 4-5 other unlucky car owners far away from the rest of the hoopla. we had fun walking around but wish more people got the chance to see the cars us unlucky people brought :/ . We'll be seeing any HAMBers who attend the Manchester cruise
Yup i think the turn out last year in Putnam overwhelmed them... over 2000 cars...I all so love the Manchester show but Putnam is a hop skip and a jump for me...
If you want a good parking spot at Putnam, You need to get there EARLY. I leave my place at 6AM, and I'm only 15mins away!
i can't leave early. we have farm chores that need to get done before any play-time is permitted . We left at 8:30 last year and got the shaft. Im about 20 min away. We showed up at the Manchester cruise at 9:45-10 and got parked right on main street without issue. we enjoyed the putnam cruise but it really wasn't organized fvery well for parking. we had to drive down the main drag by the river in between everyones cars and the pedestrian traffic to where they wanted us to park. i think we were biting nails the entire way. Im right between manchester and putnam so i guess its a rock, paper, scissors bet as to which one we go to. I just wish they wern't the same day :/ Is there a rain date for putnam if it rains?
i figured you were one of those Mainers that always comes down for the show, and were stirring it up for fun.
