hello HAMB members, here I am again needing help, advice on hooking up the two rear feed lines into the master cylinder in my 1954 Chevy Belair. I have enclosed a pictures showing what I am talking on? The brass fitting that screws into the back of the master is actually two separate brass parts that move separately as one. I need to get the larger female opening tightened straight up in order to screw the main feed line into it. The square block fitting needs to have the female fitting open towards the left to attach the front feed line into it. I have tried for 2 days and finally removed the master out if the car thinking it it'd be easier to do but no luck at all. I can come close but en I tighten it it is off location for the lines. I thought about buying a new brass washer but cannot find one online or in parts stores. If anyone has a clue to help me please do. I was thinking on buying a new master just to get the car going but the back fittings do not come with it so so much for that idea. thanks! Alannator
put the lines into the fittings. The put the fittings on to the master cylinder. Then bolt the master cylinder into the car. or take some time to bend the lines straight, so they fit. Use a box wrench on the tube nut to help you get some leverage. But it would still be easier to do the way I say above. Modern parts stores kind of***** for finding things like those washers. See if you can find an old old parts store, they might be able to help you.
http://m.grainger.com/mobile/product/EATON-WEATHERHEAD-Brake-Tee-5MTE0 something like that? I think you'd be better off getting your fittings straightened out and tight then modify the lines to fit. Might need to make a new line. Dual pot master would be a good upgrade if you don't have one, nows the time to do it. Here's a good tech post on it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tech-49-54-chevrolet-master-cylinder-upgrade.367041/
