Handling reason? What's the reason for a Panhard bar?

I incorporated a "dead perch" purely to eliminate the clutter of a panhard bar.

Panhard bar? In hard cornering I believe cross spring with shackles allows some weight shift to outside of a cornering dirt car. Or the other way if you going right. Panhard bar prevents that. Also believe most dead perch’s are on driver side allows more spring movement on outside of a corner, again for dirt racers. Somebody else jump in & explain.

It seems like we ran the shackle on the right side on my spring front sprint car. I don't think running one shackle has much to do with weight transfer, it just limits front axle side to side movement. 11inMud.jpg

2024-03-03 21.48.23-3.jpg Did the final fit of the Studebaker grille shell. With 2.5" of G C the grille is 33" off the floor. I will be using a Howe Racing 3429 B radiator core. Cools good with my black 27 with a flathead. I like the four Stromberg 48's in a row with my own progressive linkage because it is different but I most likely will be using the 6 Rochesters. Above the reveal the color will be black and below the color will be BLACK cherry. 2024-03-03 21.48.23-1.jpg 2024-03-03 21.48.23-2.jpg

low nose blue 32.jpg The ONLY things I like about the Tulsa Roadster are the headlights, wheels and 2024-03-06 12.46.49.jpg especially the LOW grille shell. With 2.5" grille shell G C on Maxi I think I have achieved that look with 165-15 tires. Tire just standing there for comparison

2024-03-13 21.59.24-1.jpg With sprint car running gear I thought I would build sprint car headers but with oval side pipes. I could not find three 1.750" tubes into 3.5" formed collectors so I called Schoefeld 3-11-24. Custom made I guess that day. Arrived 3-13-24. Made the 3 tube mandrel tonight for fine tuning the fit. Just 2 welds to allow the corking. Cold I might add. The 3/8" thick corking tool was from my scrap [shims ] Right now the collectors measure 2.625" X 4". I will have the long side pipe ovalized to match. The side pipes will be standing with the 4" side out along side the frame. 2024-03-13 21.59.24-2.jpg 2024-03-13 21.59.24-3.jpg 2024-03-13 21.59.24-4.jpg 2024-03-13 21.59.24-5.jpg I have not figured out how to do the turn outs yet.

2024-04-23 20.36.13.jpg 2024-03-29 13.10.26-3.jpg Nothing to report on the Maxi. Finishing up a 59A going to Scotland for a full fendered 34 coupe. Spent 3 days at the Charlotte Auto Fair. Found these pristine Eddie Meyer heads at a very fair price. Doing the finish welding on tube frame X 2. 2004-01-01 00.00.00-2.jpg 2024-04-09 11.09.48-1.jpg 2024-04-09 11.09.48-2.jpg 2024-04-09 18.57.11.jpg 2024-04-12 13.42.18-1.jpg 2024-04-12 13.42.18-2.jpg 2024-04-12 13.42.18-3.jpg

Thought I better put a little time in on the Maxi Taxi. Finished welding up the top of the narrowed grille shell. Schrinking that little peak off to the left went better than I thought. 2004-02-02 09.27.39.jpg 2004-02-02 09.27.49.jpg All it needs is some filler primer now or several more hours of metal finishing. Guess which way I am going.

Building the sprint car type headers. Using Speedway combo bends. Flame cut the flanges with a flame cutter I purchased back in 1972 for $400.00. It was one year old at the time. A small rolller follows a template. Took some parts in for chrome plating. Bad news/good news. Bad news new owner does not use copper. Good news. They really piled on the chrome and cheaper than the previous owner. Turned out super nice. 2024-07-17 21.48.26-1.jpg 2024-07-17 21.48.26-2.jpg 2024-07-17 21.48.26-3.jpg 2024-07-17 21.48.26-4.jpg 2024-07-17 21.48.26-5.jpg
