In Downtown Niles District in Fremont,Ca May 8th 8AM-3PM, my band The RevTones will be performing too.
hear that this is a great show. the Old Niles District is a great setting. of course, the best thing in Niles is Don's Antiques where you can find many old car parts that you will likely never find any where else.
IF Don likes you and you have a wad of cash. just took a drive over to Niles last weekend... man they have really changed the place. got a big park across the street from the shops where they now have the train station and some other old train building. I guess it looks nice but I liked it better back when I lived there in the 80's.... a bit rough around the edges with Niles Station playing Rock and Roll every weekend and 15 sleazy bars on the main street. believe it or not, back then there was antiques in the antique stores rather than collectble Elvis plates and M&M statues. Niles has definitly lost a bunch of it's character over the years.
Yep today is the big ceremony in Niles for the reopening fo the Niles Station.I'm very proud they finally cleaned up the neighboorhood... well at least Main St anyway...lol..I've known Don for over 20 years, my close family friends own Smiths Furniture in Niles.Don has actually given me things for free..sssshhh dont tell anyone that.If he likes you and trusts you, you're in...lol Oh man you said The Niles Station nightclub!! LOL..How Can I forget that place...I feel you about the Antique stores, right on the money there.
a friend of a friend had a ****box mid 50's Buick with the roof cut off. he is a poser with the proper cuffs, slick hair and no automotive knowledge at all. went to Don's and asked if he had a starter or something. Don told him straight up he had one but he wasn't going to sell it to him. saw the car later at pick-n-pull.
LOL...There is NO negotiating with Don.I've seen him do that more than a few times with customers over the years. Its always an awkward feeling to be standing there when he does that to someone. But they almost always had it coming.
Don is a great guy, I've bought two cars from him for customers and a lot of parts. He is always fair and friendly. He just does not like bull **** and he can not take it when people try to tell him what his stuff is worth. I've witnessed him telling customers to get the hell off of his property and to not come back, because they were trying to tell him they could get the same part for half the price some where else.
Yep you dont mess with Don. If he quotes you a price thats it. Or you will be thrown out of his place.
Back in the early 60's there was abig club out there that we used to go to. I remember the hit band that played "Tequila" being there. You know that in the 20's, Niles was the "Hollywood" where the silent films were made. The Champs ??
Correct The Champs did "Tequila" in 1958.And yes Niles was the original "Hollywood" Charlie Chaplin did movies here.Essanay Studios.
