Saved this from the crusher today. Commercial taxi maybe, I don't know. 6 hole wheels, opening wing glass in the rear side windows. Motor in frame, more parts inside. Post your knowledge please.
Need big pics. also show the motor and dash. Any tags say anything? Firewall recess looks like it was an inline overhead valve.,, like Buick had
Taken with my phone. Not the clearest to blow up. Need to look for details tomorrow and will add more pics. Has a double thumb wheel to roll out the rear wing glass. That's a section of a tree on the r. rear.
That hood side looks like very wide spaces between the louvers? Not like most cars. I have a GMC book somewhere. I have a failing memory, but I thought maybe there was some connection of Yellow Cab and GM. Maybe I am wrong. I will try tomorrow to find a book.
I think back then they were known as hackneys or jitneys. They carried people and property on routes for a set price. They were closer to bus service, than what we know as taxis.
I have a picture of one when it was new and that is what you have. Unfortunately I don't know how to get it from a paper photograph to this post.
