Mc Phail TRADES 8 FOR 6 READ ALL ABOUT IT !!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Engine Pro 5X, Oct 21, 2009.

  1. Okay here's MO--HEAD !! Seats were trashed so we installed the seats that a 350 horse-power 327 would use. These are taperd for more flow and require some blending in the bowl but well worth it. Then on to the intake valves. We opted for a larger intake valve of 0.121 for more flow. We use a cutter that blends the intake bowl and sets the valve seat all at the same time. Then we blend in the chamber with the port for some smooth *** flow. Next some gasket matching and port blending. I just love GRINDING ON CAST-IRON !!! >>>>.<center>

  5. So we dug through all of the grunge on the block and the ol girl came out pretty darn clean. Picked up a set of 0.030 slugs and slapped a overbore on the block. Then into the hone for a finish job. Put the balance job on the rods and a little more to do on the cyl head. Things are coming together nicely as we will be doing the ***embly soon !! Stay tuned !!! >>>>.<center>

God bless the 292. I keep asking Bob K about his every time I see him and the report is always the same, "awesome motor". Back in the early days of the 292 a guy by the name of Kay Sissle put one in an altered and put the hurt on every V8 he ran. After consulting with him I built one to run Modified Production in my friends '57 Chevy 2dr. It used a Sissle custom grind cam and I built a tri-power tuned tubular intake and header with a set of GTO tri-power carbs. We got it into the bottom 11's with what today would be considered an economy build. I always thought one in a mid 30's Chevy coupe would make an awesome street combination.
I'll definitely be watching this one. there is a '33 coupe that's been sitting in a barn about 5 miles from here. I've been turned down with every offer I've made so maybe it's time to sweeten the pot. Keep us up to date on this one.

  9. Progress report !!! Valve guides need a little more clearance due to the bump on the camshaft and the valve springs needed a little more height. A round in the jet washer and together we go !!! >>>>.<center>
