I am needing to get my McCulloch supercharger rebuilt. From what i have read and what research i have done i hear John Erb is the go to man for this and i should stay away from paradise wheel. The problem is i dont know how to get a hold of john. According to his profile he has not been on the HAMB since May of 2010. Does anyone know how i can get into contact with him or is there anyone else i can go to to have my supercharger rebuilt?
He doesn't like the web or email, try the phone. If you do a search his address and phone number should turn up.
I have a later version sn series and had planned on sending it to Paradise Wheel. What did you find on them suggesting to stay away from them? TIA
I talked to John Erb today. He is a very nice gentleman with a ton of knowledge. He will definitely be getting my business.
Just several post i read from people who had him rebuild there superchargers and within 1500 'miles they had to have it rebuilt again. And every post and thread i find about john is nothing but praise.
No problem. My supercharger is getting mailed out to John the 1st next week. I would have sent it to him already but i had a small crack in the impeller casing that i am having my machinest repair 1st.
Im still waiting on my Machinist to finish the repairs on the impeller casing. As soon as i get it back i will be shipping it off to John.
Yes and no. I have been collecting a few parts but moving and starting school have kept me pretty busy. My machinist has finished the repairs on my supercharger. I just need to go pick it up. I did score a magnesium frankland quick change rear end for my project. Im really super stoked about it.
I finally got it maild out Yesterday. It will take UPS a week to get my supercharger out to John. John said it is about a two week turnaround on his rebuilds. My supercharger will be getting a new spring pack, an improved impeller, a complete rebuilt and converted to an SN60. John can now do a ceramic conversion on our superchargers...it improves performance and the life of the supercharger.
I talked to john Yesterday. My supercharger is coming along and should be done by the end of next week. I've been talking to John a lot over the past week. He is tweaking the supercharger for my specific engine build. If you need a supercharger rebuilt John is definitely the man to call.
John also did the supercharger on my motor and upgraded parts inside as well and had it built for my engine but also setup for more boost down the road if I so wish to do so. You won't be disappointed. He is the go to man on these things without a doubt. Jeff
The rebuild has taken longer than originally intended. But it is supposed to be finished this week and shipped back to me.
I will. John ended up replacing my back plate on my supercharger. He has been backed up. Last I talked to him he was working on mine. Hopefully it will be done by the end of this week.
I'm expecting it any day know. John finished it last week. My total build for the rebuild was $662. For that price I got a new spring pack, new impeller, the basic rebuild, and a conversion from a vs57 to a SN60. He also thru ina new dipstick and a new back plate at no cost because he didn't like the welding repairs that were done to my original back plate. The only complaint I currently have is that it took much longer than expected. ...but that is a very minor complaint. John was always very friendly and courteous when I talked to him. I enjoyed all the conversations. I am hoping it shows up today or tomorrow. As soon as it does I will get some pics posted of it.
That's awesome. I have one that will likely need to be rebuilt before I start using it. I'll be watching to see how this turns out. Best of luck!
I got my supercharger back today. Other than it being paint orange instead of ford blue it came back perfect. Here are some pictures of it mocked up on my 408. images screenshot program windows images upload an image image upload with preview 20mb image hosting screen shot pc
