I remember back in the 60's and 70's being able to buy a Fan adapter/spacer that bolted a manual fan to the Crankshaft of a S.B.C to set the fan where it belongs. I suspect modern Electric Fans killed the market for them. I find it surprising that places like Speedway don't have one like it. Am I just not searching correctly or are they extinct? Yes, I can build one myself but often it's easier to open my Wallet than spend a day machining. Is it possible that someone has an Old take off sitting on a shelf or being used as a paper weight? I could be a buyer. Who can help me save time and keep moving forward? Absolutely No Way in Hell will I put an electric fan on this project period!
A friend of mine built a welded home made one and had a crank failure but never balanced it. I'd think a good machinist could build a nice straight adapter.
I checked a few guys and they don't have anything buddy. Maybe go to Alley Night tonight and ask the boys in the green coats.
If I hand carve one, it will be Billet Aluminum one solid piece end to end no welds. A little black paint will make it look just fine.
I've been asked repeatedly over the years if I had any by them. Your Truck would have one when I retrieved it if I ever did have one.
For sure Marty, this is for a Sedan project I'm helping out on. I will carve one out myself for my Coupe project. And just so you know this motor is fresh rebuild by Old Friends Jim Albrich and Earl Floyd. Torque Flight was done by none other than Jamie Fox. Last week a rather large box from S.P.D. showed up with Flanges, Collectors and many many bends but No instructions. Sounds like a lot of fun coming up. And yes for those that know, The M-2 met the Hot Wrench and went to the Scrap trailer. Currently is replaced with a nice Dropped Axle as it should be. Thanks again for the column and drop. I just got a total rebuild kit for it on Friday from Jimmy K. Life is wonderful with a group of Friends like these.
Let me see where this goes. Would be nice to end up with a take-off to just copy for the SBC one. In turn I should be able to just modify the motor end and length to get the job done for my Coupe. In other words, a Polish blueprint. No homework involved.
Uh yeah! Not too likely. Unless you believe in parallel universes where there could be a Marty (with a goatee) that doesn't know how to weld and a Bandit Billy (I already have the goatee) that likes flat black paint and no chrome. Nah, even if it's possible it is not very plausible. I've been watching too much Star Trek lately.
