Hello Hambers. I judt wanted to give a heads up Warning about a problem i ran into . My other post had me towed by AAA . Turned out i had a worn or broken br*** tip fuel rod . Repaired it & was out cruising for about 5 miles & engine died yet again & another AAA tow on Christmas . I did troubleshooting & my cause of failure this time was the EDELBROCK 1721 LOOKALIKE MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP sold by Jegs ( picture of black pump ) . The Edelbrock 1721 was discontinued & NO rebuild seal kit avaiable so i bought the jegs ( because it clockable like the 1721) . Ran good for a while but the actuatiion arm for the plunger/ diaphram broke . There are reviews of this happening to other people also . I recently found that Edlebrock has brought the 1721 back & i will be buying one ( sure it works the same as the Jegs but hope better quality) . So if your looking to save $$$ by going the Jegs lookalike 1721 , remember i warned ya .
Thanks , I need 6psi for Quickfuel 680SS carb , 3/8 inlet /outlet 180 degrees or as close to that as i can get . And im very tight to frame . Edelbrock 1721 fits snug in there & has 110gph 6psi max & has 3/8 inlet/outlet . Think im going with that i have an old one if i need parts for some reason too . Thanks HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY BROTHER HAMBERS!!!
These are about 120° apart ,so the inlet and outlet are not further out past the pump body https://partshawk.com/airtex-4460-m...aVN6on0knkZ11qSsWIYn_gCGW3zNWw3mDfhcG1pxtXTpF
I have a friend with a shop truck w/ SBC. He has had 3 mechanical pumps from 'O Reilly's fail in about a 6 month period.
I try not to buy from a company that gives logo stickers with their products. With that said, every manufacturer has a glitch on some products and it doesn't matter which company it is. I have found that once the original owner of a good company p***es away or sells, that the company usually goes to ****.
Like @Kerrynzl showed in his post, I have a few NOS and used Airtex and Carter. Biggest problem was finding a quality rebuild kit, but I think Then and Now Automotive is still in business.
