kind of a mess with the wires wrapped around it, but the mechanism is pretty simple. There's a pivot bolt for the lever, it's spring loaded to one side. The shift arm that it pivots on, pivots on a long bolt on a thick spacer. No rocket surgery here!

I will be the first to admit that I do not understand the difference between how your Rev Limiter Functions and how the MSD unit I used on the Dragster. Not only did we use the Limiter as a Limiter with no negative side effects, we would use it as a 2 step on the Starting line. I used a 3000 RPM Chip and would be at wide open Throttle as the Tree came down. Raw Alkie would spit out the Pipes and when the 2 Step shut off, it went to full throttle with no ill effects.

I did Break a Rearend once, The Dragster Launched briefly.... Cleaned out the Crown and Pinion and Zinged the Engine to the high side Limiter 8400 RPM Chip. Coming from maybe 4-5000 to 8400 so quickly that no Human Driver would ever be able to catch it in time. We repaired the Rearend and discovered that we blew both head gaskets as well.

No matter what style of limiter you end up with I feel it is an extremely wise choice to have as a "safety net" in case of parts failure (Rear end / Driveshaft etc.) it will keep the Rods inside the Engine and save a lot of expensive parts.

Good luck with your choice. :)

I have a MSD on mine, I'm not sure what would happen with a mechanical. I would assume it would re-light and still be in phase and time, but if not it could get ugly with boost. I've had drive line failures on some of my old dirt track stuff break and zing the motors well past the rev limit settings.
