Got an old Jones Motorola / Moroso mechanical drive 10K RPM tach with telltale. Telltale is set at 5K RPM, is there a way to reset this? Is the little button on the side of the tach a reset? Can't see that anything happens when I push it. Tach works when hooked to a drill motor. Help appreciated.

    Thanks, John

telltale is not a redline needle, like you see on most tachs. It's a telltale, when you go past 5000 rpm, the telltale needle is supposed to move higher, and stick at the max rpm you reached. Then you reset it by pushing the button (some take a key). The one I had, was sticky, it didn't like moving past 5000. ymmv

Not really that important if the tell tale doesn't return back to zero, or below 5k for that matter, as long as it tracks when you buzz the motor up. It's more of a concern if it won't go OVER 5k like Jims. I have a moroso/Jones and a SW, but I sure would like to have a Stahl faced Jones.
