I have a number of a guy in Palmdale if you cant find one closer....he blasted a body for me and did a great job.
for sandblasting I have used this guy. Kenny Sandblasting inc. 9625 E. Rush st. so El Monte Ca. 91733 Keith -(626) 443-8876
I would recommend also, good prices, bring a lot of stuff so you can do it as a "lot". This guy does a lot of vintage car stuff. Also there a creepy headstone shop behind his place. I think their closed Saturdays. About 3-4 day turnaround. If your going to powder coat chassis parts after, Around the corner is "Island's powder coating", also good spot.
There's a guy I'm looking to try that uses soda. He's in beaumont. I have his card at home! I think he has sandblasters also.
I used a guy before and it sounds like Kenny's....Is this the guy who has a bunch of old Trinkets and cars in his yard? and his dog is always lying around by the office? North side of Rush right? Yeah he is cheap and willing to work with you but i am not sure if he does whole cars...I have only taken him parts. Dave, To answer your question, Islands is real good and also pretty cheap. I don't go to the office though...I have learned that if you go close to closing time and stop and talk to the guys in the warehouse....You have a good chance that they will just ask you to buy them some beer in exchange for the work. I have taken them some wheels on a couple of occasions and got lucky like that...but you have to talk to them like they are your Compadres (in Spanish).... They charged me once but it was only like $35. a wheel and they were ready the next day....Not Bad at all. I was going to go to Blasting Specialties in Montebello/Commerce area (they are in Drive Mag and use to be in Santa Fe Springs) but i was hoping for something a little closer to Ontario since i live in that area..... Pomona, Upland, Rancho, Chino, ???
I work with a girl who's husband owns the following company. I used them for a 40 Ford and it came out perfect, no warpage or any of the other horrors you hear. http://www.calblast.com/
Perfect! That's exactly what i was looking for....Thanks! I knew there was a place over in that area, I just couldn't remember the name. What is the girls husbands name? or who do i ask for? Should i say that you referred me? Thanks again.
His name is Steve, number is 909-949-9505. I just dropped off some parts today. He is on Benson ave just south of Foothill 1/4 mile east of Central. He is one of the nicest guys to work with. I think his web page is Calblast.com
Happy, Islands is good for hard parts like all the undercar parts and the chassis. Get satin black finish, take as mush as you can in one load. If you pickup the stuff right out of the oven, you should be very carefull with it for about a week or two, it take time to cure and harden. I had them do some wheels and hubs for my bike and the were awesome. Also nore you want walnut or soda blasting for large body panels(warpage isusses), undercar and chassis can be done with sand.
I use Islands too. Fastest turnaround and best price of anyplace I've ever seen. No need to blast stuff before taking it to them, they can blast stuff themselves. They do the blasting at the shop about a block south of the powdercoating facility. Talk to Lupe. Bring Bud Light.
I see DRD knows the secret....Lupe is the man! and yep i meet with him before talking to any body else....He's always back and forth between the two shops.
SHortdog, note that this is large powder coating facility that does residential gates and stuff, so their basic matt black is the cheapest and quickest. Also it's undercar quality. Last note, I took some cheap alloy parts that I didn't know they were a cheap metal and they melted. Just a note the place for super show quality unless you ask them to take their time. But good stuff for hotrodding nontheless.
