My son found this image on his old computer while going thru photos he had. It is from the now last and lost black & white photo I had of my favorite ride. Was taken around 1960 in Shreveport, La. Shows my wife, myself and our 1953 Ford convertible that I had customized. The car is lowered in front by cutting out 1.5 coil from spring & rear lowering with blocks, 54 Chevy grille teeth, frenched headlight rings, rounded hood corners, long cruiser fender skirts, lake pipes, Olds spinner hubcaps finished in almost clear candy gold & green – could see chrome thru the candy colors, continental kit, 54 Olds tail lights, & I think that chrome side trim behind door and along rear quarter is Olds. Had original Ford green & white leather interior. Converted an early T-Bird floor shift set up to the original Fordamatic transmission. Paint was 18 coats of hand rubbed 54 Olds metallic green lacquer. Engine was original flathead ford slightly modified. At that time it was likely the only near fully (mild) customized car running the streets of Shreveport La. Does not show in photo but the REGENTS car club plaque was hanging below continental kit. Those were the good ol days. The skinny kid behind the wheel was 6’ and 130 pounds. No inclination he would turn into the fat old man of today. The REGENTS club had camera set up at airport and each of us drove our ride up to designated spot and photo taken. I had an album of all the club cars but that book is long gone but lots of memories remain. Jimmie
Nice car! My Dad had a liking for the 53 ford. Had 2 of them when he passed last year. One 2 door and a 4 door. Both still setting at the farm.
