Customs Merc chop progress with compiled project pics

  1. Weird deal. Any reason the intake would be warped or maybe would have been surfaced or something that makes it not exactly on the same plane as the heads?

I believe there is a specific 3x2 intake for the 265. I think there are 2 different part numbers offered them. one is 265 only.

I have the correct intake. C355. The C357 is the larger port intake that they are still making.

I may finally got the intake sealed. Never had to silicone the gaskets around the water jackets before. Radiator is still full after 48 hrs. The rebuilt wiper works great and I got the wiper washers working to. Hopefully I will get my rearend tonight and get it in Sunday.[IMG]

Rear brakes are done, tightened and rolling. Tomorrow will be the front brakes and bleeding. Radiator is still full of water so that's good. Got to tear the back of the transmission apart to see why the yoke won't slide in all the way, but should be able to get a measurement for the drive shaft and get that ordered on Monday. I think I might be able drive the car in a couple of weeks!!!

It's even sucking gas out of the tank! My old merc couldn't even do that.

Got first drive in around the parking lots. The powerglide has problems, I think it's the one I rebuilt in high school and it doesn't have reverse. But was nice to drive it. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Going to try and get the steering column all put together tonight. Got the turn signal switch rewired and ready to install. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Got the wiring through the steering column, went easier than Ithe last one I did.[IMG]
The column is tight and the wheel is tight! I think it's going to be nice having the automatic column in the car. [IMG][IMG]
Column wiring almost finish and in the junction box. [IMG]
And the horn circuit works. Got to go get some 10 gauge wire and get the main power and alternator wired up.

The merc is running off of the wiring now. No more hot wiring. Got working horns, spotlights and starter off the original ground button. I may have figured out the transmission problem. I think I have a gasket behind the rear pump. Going to try and pull it apart tomorrow and see if I can't get reverse.

I think I got the powerglide fixed. Rebuilt it my senior year of high school and I'm thinking someone played a joke on me in shop class. The rear tail shaft seal was in between the rear pump and the case. Had a 1/8 inch gap between the 2. Reverse is working and it's going into gear instead of it thinking about it. Still got to see if it will shift but no more pushing!!![IMG]

  23. Nearly ready to drive to work! :)

So I have to ask, it looks like your shop is behind/attached to a business. Is it a family business?

I live in a old building. This used to be a creamery from 1935 thru 98. The creamery closed up when they couldn't buy cream any more. It all had to be pasteurized. So I got a small house, big garage.

  25. That's pretty neat. I had thought in one of the earlier pics it looked like it said creamery or dairy on the side of the building. I always thought it would be "fun" to live in a set up like that. Fitting you have the dairy truck....which I think I should try to talk you out of....although my wife thinks I should be content with the projects I already have stacked up. LOL (she does think dairy trucks are cool though....)

  28. That doesn't look like home, so I'm going to have t assume it's driving. [emoji16][emoji106]
