Those splash pans were used in 49' , some made it to early 50' models until they were used up. Then the lower portion with the holes in it ( which was welded to the upper part) was eliminated.:)

Yup, only one Ive had with a top and bottom was a 49. But thats not what I mean, look how straight it is! Every pan Ive had reguardless of year looks like its been sitting out on I-95 for a few days.

Got it'. Just dragged out a pic. of my old 49' custom (circa 57') and it has bash marks. And that was from driving it around without a bumper.:)

Ahh YES we've entered the name calling phase - I suppose "we" are now supposed to respond with the equally intelligent "oh yeah, says you" defense. Oh well, IF you insist on name calling PLEASE use the Politically Correct term of Fruit Cake - the over seas guys are gonna wonder why you are calling us cigarettes.

I congradulate you on your superior driving skills - clearly a beakon of hope for all of us.

  8. Not to get this topic off track but you cannot adjust the numbers to take into account there are more cars on the road. Yes per capita there may be more accidents but the increase in accidents is directly related to the fact that there are more cars on the road. If there are more cars to hit chances are if someone does make a mistake they will hit another car unlike in the past where if there were fewer cars if you made a mistake there was more room on the road to compensate and more time to do it. The inprovment in the vehicles do make them easier and safer to drive it isall of the other distractions that occupy a driver that are the problem not improved vehicle technology and saftey.

So cleaning that disc brake dust off your wheels constantly is less maintainence?:( Don't think so! There must be all kinds of brands of wheel cleaners available at the local parts store none of it is imported so it keeps Americans working,so I guess that's a good thing:)

yeah all the hard to get parts are really straight.the grille surround is almost perfect.this car had some really shoddy work done to it in its past.tons of bondo on the nose, tunneled headlights with 2" thick bondo, shaved door handles just filled in with bondo etc..the lady i got it from her husband was going to do it right, but he died right after it was stripped.so it was cannibalized.i got it through a friend before it got totally parted out.the car really is straight just has a few rust issues.
