why build one when it is already done? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6882&item=2483994901&rd=1
It's shit like that that pisses me off. I'll probably never own a Merc, even though it's #2 on my list (behind a 65 Rivi), and this joker ruins one. Assholes like this need to be taken out back and beaten with soap in a sock.

WHY? How do cars such as that end up in a magazine? That is exactly the reason we don't subscribe to most anymore its pretty sad in my opinion Debb
uffda that is seriously ugly...it took a lot of work to get it that way too... to each their own I suppose
Ummmmm yea .... that THING is from here and is known as "The Ed Mobile" I use to be ever worse when it was first built, it was two tone red and silver...well if it can be worse....then again why am I wasting my time even talking about it.
I don't understand why people try to make their rod interiors look like a new suv? If he wanted to ride around in a T/Type why not just buy one? ?
I was waiting, too, for somebody to mention this abortion.Don't these fucked up cars usually result from a ruined chop? What's his excuse?Looks like "roadster pickup" is this poor cars only salvation...Used to be a junkyard near Morristown,TN that had a Merc pickup, rusting away.If I remember right, the back of the cab looking like 40-48 Ford. The work looked good, but the car was wasting away years ago.Think the name of the yard was Biddles.Come to think of it,it may have been a baby Lincoln.Close enough.Anybody know if the yard is still there? The guy who owned it was older than dirt years ago,and a little crazy,so he's gotta be gone now.Guess the yard is,too, but any HAMBers know for sure?
I love Mercs, love the smooth flowing, almost aeronautical flow of form from front to back, the streamlined, going-fast-while-standing-still profile of a carefully chopped roofline, and now THIS. Agggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! There are certain unwritten rules about rods and customs. This is one of them: Don't turn a 50's Merc into a hillybilly pickup!
you guys have no vision if it was flatblack with flames and flame thowers you guys would be all over it... hahahaha the worst thing is that it was a 2 door, maybe if you could get it cheeap and get new front fenders, new dash, decklid, new roof you could save it but i wouldnt pay more then 3500 for such a car that need so much work and what ever was those trophys from? did the builder have a car show all alone and got best local, best custom, best pickup and best paint as only consestant or something
Hey Bottomfeeder, does this mean you are subconsciously saying that what you really want is a Hotrod pickup instead of a Hotrod Merc?
It makes me nuts seeing Merc's butchered up like this. There's a finite number of them left, and it seems when one is uncovered in a barn in an origional state, some moron will buy it, overchop it, put in a fucked up looking grille and tailight treatment, shave the gutters etc and do whatever he can to ruin the lines of the origional car. Merc's are one of the few cars that need nothing! The grille is great stock! So are the tailights! Set it on the ground and you're done, what's so hard about that? While in Cambria Cali a month ago, I saw a perfect 50 coupe driving through town. Flat black, and stock except for a scraping stance, and in my opinion this car was as visually perfect as it gets. Four doors are badass too. There's no need to fuck up a Merc because it's a fourdoor. Rant over ,peace out yo.
[ QUOTE ] He bought the trophies on Ebay right before he listed it for sale. That is an ugly P.O.S. [/ QUOTE ] I second that emotion.
I pray that someday that heap will end up in a salvage yard, or in an estate auction, and will be repaired... My next door neighbor, when I lived in Norman OK many years ago, had a '55 Nomad converted to a pickup. That was a waste; he had 2 four-doors that he should have butchered instead. The 'mad will be tougher to repair, however, as they are rarer than a '49-51 Merc tudor.
