1952-59 Ford Merc Hood

Looking at bdubs listing for his 53 Merc

Anyone ever try fitting a Merc hood on their 55-56 Ford?
Looks like a slam dunk....from the pic.

 

I believe the Merc hood is longer, and the curvature at the front is different from a 55/56 Ford. Maybe doable but not exactly a slam dunk.

 

Thought about it but since I would just want the hood for the scoop feature, it would be fairly easy to duplicate the scoop and form the front as desired. I like the merc scoop because its low profile and to me, looks "right". Would like to find a smaller, flush mount scoop to reverse mount as a vent to remove engine heat, one each side of the hood Louvers would let in too much rain/humidity. I believe some Mustangs had some small vents/scoops on the GT models. Need to refresh my research.

 

Been doing the same thing - thats why the question. Look at my Hood Scoop discussion - theres a pic of the Mustang GT scoop thats pretty low.. Thinking of ordering one to set on and see...

 

I too, like the Merc hood scoop. Is the center rib shap, the same as the Ford?

 

What about a same year swap? Would a '53 Merc hood match up to a '53 Customline or Mainline? Anybody attempted it?

 

You can bolt up the entire front clip from 1952-54 Mercury cars on the same year Fords that has been done.

 

the '65 GTO hood scoop on 50Frauds '56 is the best looking one on these cars in my opinion.

Yes, this is very clean, low profile. I agree, the best, for me, I've seen.
