    Hey all,

In the process of putting a 49-53 flathead mercury in between the rails of my 32 ch***is. I am looking to do so using a Muncie 4 speed..

Question... is the Ford 239 flywheel the same as the Merc 255 fly wheel? I know the stroke is different, but i want to be 100% sure before i spend the money on a flywheel that accepts the GM10.5 clutch

    Thanks all

The difference between the Ford & Merc 8ba style flywheels is the clutch bolt pattern.
Ford p***enger car '49-'53 would be 9 1/2" Long style pattern,
Ford 1/2 ton '49-'53 truck would be either 10" Long or 11" long patterns.
Mercury '49-'53 would be 10" Borg & Beck pattern.

If the Center Force flywheel fits the 8ba/Merc crank, you should be fine.
Talk to Center Force & be sure.

So is there a GM 10.5 Clutch and Pressure Plate that bolts to the stock Mercury V8 flywheel?

The standard Chevy 10 1/2" pressure plate from '60s-'70s & probably more will bolt to the '49-'53 Mercury flywheel.

use the pick up flywheel and re drill it to match the pressure plate of your choice
