I changed fluid and filter in a1979 c6, but without checking the manual I put in Mercron instead of type F. Will this hurt the*******? It's in my 65 f100 behind a built 302.

Usually when transmssions are rebuilt they use Dexron/Mercon its supposed to be a better fluid than Type F.I'm not a transmission specialist, this is what I've been told and have read.

  5. I agree, I put dex/mercon in my 68 c6 after a filter and gasket change with no issues, shifts fine and works good.
