Hi, My name is John and I checked out this web site and became very interested in the mod's that all are making to this fine little engine. I purchased a 20' boat with this engine and about to do a complete overhaul and now thinking about making some of these mod's. I have done the alternator mod, now the water pump looks like my next one. It is great to find that guys still care about challanges like the 470. Thanks, John
Welcome John, I too am fond of the 470 Merc, but as an automotive engine. Lots of potential. Jon Kaase built this engine with a Boss Shotgun head in the early '80s and Woody Mays built a dragster to bracket race it in the 1/8th mile.
