Technical Mercury blues

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dan the flathead man, Dec 8, 2019.

  1. Good morning gentlemen. I recently came into possession of a '52 Mercury with the original flathead v8 and original teapot carb. It seems like it's almost flooding when I try to start it, once I get it started and warmed up I go to drive it and it keeps wanting to give out in 1st gear and then stumbles and bogs until I get it into second. I replaced the teapot with a Rochester two jet and that seemed to make things worse. Any advice on how to lean out these old teapots would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Love it. I don't see enough of the 52-54 Mercs. Got a 52 myself.

I was a teenager and didn't know how to work on a flathead so I pulled it and installed a 351W

  3. It's the second one I've had and they're neat little cars
