I had a thought that i'm going to combine a 47 mercury half ton grill and a 47 c.o.e. grill. i'm thinking the first mercury cabovers were the 48-52 body style. any thought's. i would have to narrow everything but i think it would work. here's a really dusty example of a 47 merc grill. 2. As long as you spin some tale how it was a one off prototype deal,
    it's all good. :D

So, PEX. does this mean you are starting yet another COE project truck?

yes scott- old number 26 is mine. i'm going to do a touring style c.o.e. with a van style back and the merc grill. nothing but collecting parts right now. i've got to finish up a few projects so most likely next winter. looking at a 40 panel later today but its pretty rough. i won't let fear or common sense stand in my way. LOL

Ha Ha Scott, even if you find me one, I may still keep whining. Let me know about the 56. i would be on that one like a fat kid on a cupcake. I am trying to get the better half to head down your way for the weekend. Maybe look at that '42, and come inspect your project to make sure you are getting some work done on it. :D

  10. Hey, there is something funny going on here.
Pex keeps finding them, but b-bop can't. WTF ???
b-bop. Thanks again for the column :D

Barry, give me a call if you are in the area.

The '56 belongs to an old hoarder with a bunch of old stuff.....I'm trying to befriend him so I can see what he has.

b-bop, Hey there is a coe limit and I have reached it...time to sell off some of these trucks...I am gonna make a for sale list if anyone has interest? I will likely keep the crewcabs only, the rest needs to go... Pex, are you gonna use the hood/shell and fit the Merc pcs in... or start from scratch? I have been making a plan too build a whole hood/grill ***y, not gonna be easy. These early Ford grills are getting very hard too find..

fabmancoe, selling some trucks? Is that even legal? You do have a bunch of them. I showed the wife your album and she said don't even think about dragging anything else home.

fabman- i'm going to use the original grill surround. the idea is to cut the grill bars from the merc down (narrow) and try to use the cast mercury header. got to get the deck done on the 39 soon, have a busy summer planned.

Ya, b-bop ain't gonna be happy.....

  22. I think there needs to be a b-bop intervention, it will involve a chair, duct tape and phone books.
We will get him to submit and get a COE !!!

Oh yeah PEX, I think that makes you a COE hoarder/pig.
I am still happy with just one!

I'll do some grunt work and do the bodywork then i'll let at least one the two go. if B wants to make a offer, i'll consider it. I've watched these c.o.e.'s get harder to find and i thought i'd pick up a few before there gone. getting after the deck on the 39 so less computer and more shop time. looking forward to the portland swapmeet in april blaaze-going to do my part to stimulate the US economy. LOL

Let me see if I am right. Pex finds COE's that Fabman didn't know about there by shorting Fabmans collection by two and Pex is going to have to hire a security service every time he leaves his property for fear that b-bop will own said COE when he gets back. Is this right?

Oh what a twisted group we have here.

so while i was out working in the shop last night my cell rang, it was this guy larry or maybe harry, anyway he starts out by calling me a sheep lover or maybe it was a goat lover. He must be a little bi-polar because then he gets all friendly and asks about the 56 c.o.e. and starts telling a big sad story how his dog died and his wife left him for a one armed hockey player and the only thing that will keep him from ending it all is for me to sell him the 56. i really like this cabover and can hardly wait for the ground to dry up to bring it home. as far as selling it to gary or whatever his name is- we'll see

Thanks ChevyShortfleet. I got all these crazy ideas in my head for stuff I want to build in the future too.
Pex, is there a lot of this stuff in Canada? I am trying to find a hood emblem for my 57 and am striking out everywhere.
