Charlie wanted me to tell the Kontinentals, that everything is going great at the Starbirds show. I had to leave before they announced the fine nine but the Merc had to be one of the nine. Anybody that was in too Kustoms was standing around the Merc all Day. I took pictures and I'll get them posted tomorrow morning. Austin has a lot to be proud of because the Merc could be the best one in the country. Sorry I couldn't post them tonight.

Spent almost hour with Charlie talking about all of the Kustom work and all of the details. Hopefully the pictures will help my memory because I still Vapor lock thinking about the Hubcaps, the checkered painted flathead, the front bumper, the rear end treatment..............Stay tuned for the pics.

If you cannot make it to the Tulsa Starbirds Show, get down to Austin for the Round up. The Merc alone is worth the trip.

Happy Trails,

Mick

Who says you can't do anything new to a Merc. Everything on the Merc is '49 to '58 Mercury or Lincoln. It looks like it should have been shot in the Lil pages.

Checkout the notch'd trunk deck and the rear end aaaaaaahhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!

Sorry gott a go!!! I'm getting Rev'd up again!!!!!!!!

Happy Trails,

Mick

the Merc is looking amazing - congrats to brother Charlie, and G. Howard - for some unbelieveable work. Anybody that knows Charlie knows how hard and long he's been working for this moment - he's helped us all out at one time or another over at the Merc Charlie garage - looking forward to seeing it back here in Austin at the Roundup.

SO, the question remains.... Now that the merc is finally finished, do we just call him Charlie?

Was kinda wierd when he only had the T on the road.

Nadine has been Charlie's obsession for many many years. I don't think many people would make the time and money sacrifices that Charlie has for their car. Can't wait to see her all finished up at the Roundup!

18. not to mention all the work that G Howard has also put into this sled - his work is amazing - so good you can't tell what the hell he did sometimes - its spooky. Theres always lots of things like that decklid that make you scratch your head...

19. This car is incredible....I spent a week with Charlie, Gary Howard (TexasTramp), and Vernon McKeen helping with the final ***embly. Their work is nothing short of incredible.......stuff I'd never think of doing. When you see it in person look for things like.....no seems in the window stainless....this trim was CNC'd out of one piece of stainless. I'm proud of him...he deserves it.

By the way, his Tall-T coupe that everyone knows was rearended by a Suburban....so needless to say the T lost the battle. So the timing of this merc is perfect to heal the wounds from this loss.

I'm a huge Gary Howard fan. I was talking to Jerry ***us and when he mentioned that Gary Howard had built the Merc, I said thats why it is so kool. This Merc is a prime example of his talents and maybe his best yet. The reason a vehicle should be kustomized is to improve the lines and not make changes just because you can. I had a blast talking to Charlie about the changes made on the sled. I know that he had a good time waiting to see if I missed anything. The hub caps for example, I was hearing guys saying that they was a billet wheel. How about a '58 Lincoln with a 37oz ladel for the bullet center. (Yes the bowl off of a 37 oz ladel bought at a restaurant surplus store. KOOOOOOL!!!

I told Charlie that I had been on his site numerous of times to check on the updates. Because of the lack of updates and seeing his kick *** "t" I ***umed he lost interest. Sorry to hear about the "T"........

I'm getting ready to do some major kustom work on my Merc, and just the thought of the task has been discouraging. I didn't think that this would be possible, but because of yesterday, I have even a stronger heart and p***ion for kustoms. Charlie gave me some suggestions and I cannot wait until next fall when I can get started.

Thanks Charlie for the inspiration.

Happy Trails,

Mick

I didn't realize he was unveiling at starbirds. I've been going to his website for almost two years now hoping to see pictures of his merc finished. Way to go Charlie!

I'm up here in Tulsa with Charlie, the car is truly amazing! You've got to get a look at the interior that Vernon did, I've NEVER seen anything quite like it. I'm going to try to add some pics that I've got from here, but I'll post more when I get home. It is the hit of the show...people are tripping over themselves looking at it. I think he'll have it at the show in San Antonio next weekend for those of you who can't wait until the Round Up. Charlie, Gary, & Vernon should all be very proud. GO AUSTIN, TEXAS!!!
Enjoy!

When did his T get smashed? That ****in' ****s, is it completely wasted? He wasn't hurt, I hope.

The Merc is bad ***, I can't wait to see it in person at the Roundup.

27. I just got back from the show. THEM!Tulsa made a club appearance. That's always soooo kool when you run with a "crew".

What a pleasure it was to hang with Charlie and his buddies talking about the kar. It was so interesting to hear how many different modifications and how much research went into creating it.

The best part of the show for me was being in that area at the show. Charlies merc was on one side and right on the other side was Pinkees RPU. I'm so glad I got to see it. Amazacrazy craftsmanship on that muthahumpa.

The koolest mod on Charlies merc IS the notched decklid and extended chrome. Bar none in my book.
