Sorry folks but I have been talking to the publisher and couldnt get them to move forward on this thing. just got word yesterday. BUT!!!!! all is not lost, If you would like a shot of any of the cars that were there prints are available for sale, for you hambers ill make them cheap as I know you all LOVE these cars. If you are interested in a print or two, please contact me here or through my website, flywheelphoto.com
Too bad TRJ wouldn't step up and do this book like the new 75 Deuces book they have. I think the Merc gathering was just as special as the 32 gathering.....even if there wasn't as much "hoopla" over it happening!! It probably wouldn't be as big of a seller, but then don't make it an "over-priced limited edition" like their other books.....
Have you looked into e publishing? Its electronic as opposed to offset press printing (high end color copiers/printers on good paper) my brother did this for his book when mainstream publishers wouldnt pick it up....hes sold enough that he made money on them, worth looking into, gets a real ISBN number and everything and reprints can be in very small numbers , it would be a shame to not do this book...I need one lol!
I decided to print and bind my photobook myself, using a nice high end printer I have access to at work (and paying my company back at the end of each month) just started shipping them last week. Friends of mine in the sign business (who deal with print issues every day) have given me good reviews on print quality and paper feel so it works for me but may not be for everyone. I've thought about offering a small publishing service for my business, for 1 to a few hundred copies kind of a situation.
Self publish. Take a look at MyPublisher.com They have templates, multiple options, and are reasonably priced. edit to add: It also eliminates the middleman's cut.
Don't self-publish, it is too hard to make money that way. Instead, you should look at a print-on-demand publisher. You don't get an advance, but you get a real publisher that will help sell the books. PM for details, one of the editors from my first books started his own publishing company he can probably help. By the way, those self-publishing websites are a rip-off, you will get burned. I know several people who have been taken by those websites. You need a real publisher. If CarTech or Motorbooks isn't interested, go the POD route.
I appreciate all of your hard work and maybe the Merc book isn't dead yet.... The HAMB has a lot of resources, so hopefully the book can still be finished. Happy Trails, Mick
Have a look at http://www.blurb.com They allow you to create a book - list it on their site - and will publish-on-demand. The quality and service is decent too. AB
I've seen Travis new book that he will be selling and it is very professionally. I agree with Dave even if it is a small run it would be worth it. I know I could sell ten to twenty Merc books over the phone. Sorry to keep the post going like to see your hard work published. Happy Trails, Mick
Hey everybody!!! I have been moving and such so my appologies for not being here! I will take alook at blurb and the others that have been mentioned. I dont want it to die yet either. Thanks for the support and i will have a book to sell yet!!!!!
