Can you tell me where to get correct front coils? The previous owner had gasser style in his mind but I think the front end is way too high. I've stood on the front with my buddy to estimate the stance but it didn't lower more than 1/2 inch. Engine and trans are in but not complete so I figure we got the simulation kinda right. I thought of cutting the coils but it would be very stiff anyway imho. Any good ideas?

I got my coil springs from an outfit in Hays Kansas.I ordered two custom sets. One had a raise of one inch and be able to hold the weight of a cammer if one of these days I get that far.And one set that lowered the car one inch and be able to handle.I'll try and find the number today.
    heres the web site http://www.coilsprings.com/

Usually if you want it stock higher you would order station wagon with A/C springs.

lower other than cutting the spring or ordereing them lower there is an outfit that has a disc brake set up based on the granada setup that offer a two inch dropped spindle.I was going to try this on one car.

http://www.wurthitdesigns.com/ this site has a nice rack and pinion set up

This guy is doing the disc brake set up he has the dropped spindles.

    The Complete Kit Includes:
    Custom-Machined Spindles (Hardness & Stress Checked )
New HD Inner Wheel Seals, New HD Brake Hoses, Machined to fit stock brake lines
1 Pair of Inner Dust-Shields / Vented Covers (Black)
New HD Inner Wheel Bearings, New HD Outer Wheel Bearings
New Premium Brake Rotors (vented), Premium Re-Manufactured HD Brake Calipers
    Premium HD Disc Brake Pads
Plus All Hardware & Complete step by step Installation Instructions

Gotta love that "airbagged" steering wheel. This is a bad shot of my buddie's car, it's not a Merc but cool anyway. He built an autentic Nascar replica down to almost every nut, he even got time correct brake shoes from some dude who used to work for a team back then. He had the brake cooler icechest in the car, stroboscopic light on the right front tire to check thread wear etc etc, AND he drove it even in the winter.... Now it's sold to a frenchman who totalled the gearbox (toploader with all the stron parts) on his first pass... The exhaust exited in front of the rear tires as you can see. He never cleaned it of...

The car started life as a ’57 Mercury Monterey convertible before builder Bill Stroppe got his hands on it. Stroppe made a big name for himself in the ‘60s building drag cars, but the Mercury was one the wildest things anybody had ever seen. The first few Daytona 500s were run on sand, and there was a flying or standing mile track as well.
Power was provided by a 368 Lincoln engine, bored out to 387 cubic inches (one of the largest engines for the time). Thanks to Hillborn fuel injection and a Harmon & Collins camshaft, the engine purportedly made over 400 horsepower. The car achieved an official speed of a 159mph when a radiator hose blew off, but the car supposedly achieved speeds of around 180mph - back in 1957! In a Mercury! Alas, this classic was butchered, and rather than winding up in a museum, the engine was transplanted into another hot rod. The body likely ended up as scrap. But we can still remember...

Stefina first built a clone of an extremely rare 1964 Mercury Monterey Marauder with the R-code 425 horsepower 427. The number of cars surviving with this combination could be counted on two hands, so building a car without a factory hi-po pedigree gives participants even more license to beat on them without remorse. After a few years of marauding, Brian built a clone of America’s first production 400 horsepower car - the 1958 Mercury. He researched the specs of this one-year 430 cid motor and found the right pieces, then built it for an El Cheapo Mercury Medalist 2-door sedan. Despite being saddled with a three-on-the-tree transmission, Brian managed to pull high 13 ET's.

Marauder Info for the day.Is this a really nice 63 or something special?

Notice the ultra rare 15" spinner hubcaps. These only came out on the High Performance Marauders.Which means this car has either the 406,427 single four ot the super marauder dual four 427 in it.Looking closer there is no checkered flag above the front marauder emblem.Only the early 63 marauders had no flag(very rare).Best guess would be the G code 406 engine that was the early engine option with the 427 option comming out later. This Marauder happens to be Kirk Dillery's G code 406 Marauder that he found in of all places Hawaii while on vacation. As of date this is the only known 406 marauder still around. NICE.

I remember seeing this black convertible cammer a few years ago at a friend of mine's shop (Jack O'Brian) in Madison, IN when he was putting it together. He has a customer's 63 Ford in there right now that he is rebuilding the cammer motor for. Somebody managed to abuse the motor pretty good from what I hear.
