Spotted this '50 Mercury rolling thru last Wednesday night. Belonged to a gentleman who is leaving this world soon and wanted his nephews to take guardianship of the Merc. When the tow rig broke in Arizona the 2 young brother drove it 3600 trouble free miles to Boston where it's now living the next chapter in it's life. The Merc was originally a 4 door, now a 2 door hardtop. This baby is covered with tricks.
Pretty slick, That wasn't one of the cars at the Rodders Journal show was it? One of our PNW members and a certain Panda have been hitting other events and driving around that area after the Rodder's Journal show and may not be the only long distance guys running around the North East right now.
Sorry, it should read less miles, probably closer to 2,600 miles my error. The lettering has 1950 Mercury and the Mercury symbol hand painted on the lower front fenders. Gaps, attention to detail, quality of body work and paint are second to none. Love the conversion to a hardtop and dumping of 2 of the doors.
Hah. It seemed long because I had made that drive from Phoenix to NYC once. There's a lot going on in the pics you posted. The headlight treatment is different, for once. I'm not a major Customs guy, but I like one that's well done. That looks VERY well done. Converting from 4 to 2 doors is harder than it sounds. Guys do it and never seem to get the lines right. That car seems perfect.
