Technical Mercury steering wheel 1952-55?

Are the splines the same on modelyears 1952-1955? I want to use a steering wheel from 1955 on my mercury 1952.

I believe they are, '52 being the first year they went from a keyway on a tapered shaft to regular splines, but I can't say I know 100% for sure.

Can't say for sure, but I put a 57 Ford steering wheel on a 52 back in 62. It fit fine.

 

That's what I have in my '52 now and it works, so I would think the Mercury would have the same interchange of years. Only issue might be working the turn signal cam and/or horn contact but the splines should be the same.
