Mercury Trucks

Recently there was a thread about different Canadian cars. I found this photo on the Hot Rod Hot Line website and thought this Mercury panel was really cool looking, especially that grill.



Anyone else have pictures of cool looking Merc pickups or panels?

I just sold a complete front clip off of my 46 Mercury.

 

Here ya go.

 

They are some sexy beasts.

 

Are both those trucks the same year and if so, what year are they?

Did they use that same grill for more than one year?

Does that green pickup say "Mercury 1/4 Ton" on the hood trim?

I think it said 1/2 ton but not for sure of that or the exact year.

 

This one is in branson at dick clarks. I know that it has studebaker on the picture. We were at a studebaker show. dusty

They are both 46's or 47's that was the only 2 years for that grill, 46 was the first year for Merc trucks, and I belive 67 was the last yr for them.

 

I saw only one 68 Merc 1/2 ton, and I was told it was a 68 that was made in Canada. Everything was virtually the same as the 67, but with a slight change in the grille. I have owned a 67 one ton for over 20 years, but don't claim to be an expert on Mercs. It is completely by accident that I also own my two favorite years of Caliente converts, a 65 and a 67. I am really a Chevy lover that lost his way.

this one is a 47 i know the guy,uses it for his antique furniture business.

 

I am so easily sidetracked, I found another site that states the reason the Mercury marque was phased out, was that there was a trade agreement signed between Canada and the US in 1965 that allowed the manufacturers to freely ship both ways across the border, making it more expensive to produce the Mercury marque because of the lower numbers.

The last year for the Canadian Mercury was 1968. I sold a stepside short box earlier this year that I bought just for the Mercury tail gate as they are hard to find. Have 3 gates and all have flaws in them but hope to make one good one out of them.
