My wife loves 55-56 Buicks and we have been on the hunt for one for awhile. One popped up last week on Craigslist. It is a 56 Century 4 door hardtop. The interior is really clean and the body is perfect. No rust and no bondo that I could find, not even in the spare tire well. Even the undercoating is still on there. The wife fell in love with it so we bought it last Friday. I finally got a day Whit out rain where I could look it over good and check a few things on the front end. It needs a little motor work and the steering box needs to be rebuilt. My plan is to leave the body stock but lower it and put on some different hubcaps and some wide whites. I also want to put some glass packs on it. If any one had any suggestions on some cool caps or if any one has a sound clip of a 322 with glass packs, lets hear them. Here are a couple of pics
Hey Paul Well done on the bitchin ride Who said more-doors don't make great rides. Happy festive season to you
Sweet, I had a 55 four door hardtop in 1966/67 and it was one the favorites of all the cars I ever owned. Great cruisers that you can load the whole group in and go.
Not to hijack your thread but Mrs. ACME just got a new one too. We need to all cruise somewhere together. Hers is s stock 57 Ranchero. We like your buick! Is her name coral?
Thanks for the compliments. I was tempted to change the colors, but after this I think I will leave it. Tell Mrs. Acme congrats. Great looking car. It is almost as good looking as she is. We should definitely go cruise somewhere. I have some steering issues to work out first but we should Maybe we all can hit the Broiler some time soon. I think I like the name Coral. It just might stick.
Happy holidays to you as well. Hope things are good with you down there. How is that coupe coming along?
Correction. One happy gal and one happy guy. The Buick is MINE. My wife hates the cars I own and i wanted to have a car she actually liked so she will ride in it with me. And now I do.
Thanks for the well wishes. The coupe will progress next year - I got all the parts in from the US yesterday. Been waiting on them for what seems like ages. Big changes afoot I know the more door is a great vehicle to get the bubble-n-strife into, and an all weather car as well
Very cool Christmas gifts for sure...Centurys are bad ass too! I heard they were the a force to be reckoned with back in the day! Plus they have the cool gas pedal start too rite? Merry Xmas!
Tell me about how you got yours so low. It looks awesome. What hubcaps are those? You will. Hopefully there will be a LBCC guerrilla cruise soon.
GLASS PACKS - Yes HUB CAPS ---- Yes Wide Whites -- Yes Lower -------- NO! But here me out, they are one of the best road cars around. I owned 3 over the years you can load anything in it and go. The Old Girl (THE CAR) looks good in High Heel's Dress her up under the hood some nice stuff is out there.
Sweet Buick. I have a 56 Roadmaster 4 door hardtop I am getting repainted in coral and cream. Little guy in his one car garage is doing it. The trunk lid/rear quarters were shot with clear after I took the pix. One side has the cream, but it was under the paper. I'm polishing the trim and will get the interior re-done while it is out. May re-chrome the bumpers also, front at least, it was a chore to get off!
here is a pic of a stock 56 roadmaster cap put a bullet in the center and bamm..... my freind said that in 56 there were alot of roadmasters out there missing their caps..................
