I suppose, if bolted to the bottom of the crossmember, it just might work.

(My trans also has little round "eylets" under the tailshaft housing that could probably be sawed off for better fit...I don't think they do anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mine is bolted to the bottom of the trans, and to the TOP of the crossmember. But it sounds like that trans is shaped different than mine, cause I aint got no eyelets like what you're talkin bout. I was s'prized that there really is no noticeable vibes coming from a hard-mounted trans like this. But then this is a pretty slushy one. That's why this thing's gettin a 4-speed! (Thanks for the clutch pedal, FH!)

Some versions of ******s in some applications have a bolt-on vibration dampener. If these "eyelets" are what I'm thinking of, that's what they'd be used for. Again, only some applications...probably something to do with resonance & harmonics, but I don't know what that means [IMG]

Well thanks Bryan, but it's NOT just for the car, it's for the person. I don't believe there is one single person on the HAMB that hasn't picked up AT LEAST $20 worth of information from all of the "HACKtech" that's been posted on here, and now there's a way that WE can help HIM. This place Rules! [IMG]

  20. If I woulda known that all this would have come out of giving that car to Hack, I'd have cut the damn thing to pieces like I wanted to... [IMG]

This is so rad. I never could have imagined that so many people would come together for someone like this. Greg does deserve it, as anyone who has met him will attest. Hell, he's always bringing gifts for my son!

I'd give some cash brother, but as you know I am in a tight spot right now. [IMG] But there's always this 305 in the garage, in case the Schlitz ever wears off. [IMG]

BTT for a real good homie, keep the funds comin!

Hate to be a spoil sport, but.......
the FWD 2.8, does it have iron or aluminum heads?Hack's intake will work for iron heads only!!! Yes, GM did make two complete different head designs for the 60 degree V6.Three if you count the DOHC units. The aluminum units only used MFI intakes with different spacing. They are a canted valve design that flows better, but carb capable intakes are $$$$ and kinda rare. The FWD engines can be used RWD with an early 3rd gen V6 camaro bell housing and manual trans, 'cause they have both RH and LH starter locations. WARNING!!! The bolt pattern is the same between the two blocks but the sarters are different sides!!!!! I dunno about the TH200 V6 camaro trans. It might have the same feature. Adapters are available to use V8 chevy trannies, but the price is kinda high. I suppose one could build it at home. [IMG]
Oh, yeah, the alloy head engines are not compatable with iron heads due to a major piston change to work with the hi-swirl chambers. The intake runner spacing and shape is different between the two designs. The stamped pans from the earlier engines have more options for ya, Hack. Look at the old S10 and Citation pans. You'll prolly find what you need there. Thats all the info I have now.
I can get the engine from Chicago to Coldwater, Mi, but not till the week of July 12.

  23. Yeah guys this has been researched by the choprods/fatHack think tank.....its a go!
early Citation engine /all iron [nearly new]/NO COMPUTER OR ELECTRONICS TO THE CARBURETOR-
trans /flex plate and tourque convert are a bolt up and stock starer location is on Left and that works with the 89 S10 [3gear] turbohydramatic 200.
only glitch is the top hose outlet is at rear of intake....screw that-just run a long hose and leav it a runner......DONT fix it if it AINT BROKE! [IMG]

You know, for that long top radiator hose, it would be cool to run a short rubber hose (with whatever bends necessary) from the water neck to a straight piece of exhaust tubing the same dia. as the inside of the radiator hose. Another short piece of rubber hose to the top of the radiator, and you're cool. Extra cool points if the exhaust tube is polished stainless or chrome. (They say the chrome is good for an extra tenth in the quarter! [IMG] )
