Metal flake on an engine?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rat boy, May 19, 2009.

  1. ok, its kind of older...but i figure better to be given a hard time for an old thread thne be given a hard time for not useing the search feature. i found another one from 05 i could bring up if you like insted...

anyway. with flake will you still get some effect from it with a rough casting? or does it need to be completly smooth? i realize that smooth would be better. but does it have to be. im sure some will say just try it. and i probably will. but im just lookin for other ideas, thoughts, comments, etc.

p.s. there is a pic above and it looks to me like it is still rough. but i could be mistaken.

  2. Can you still buy "binder" that was in solvent based paints? Why couldn't you shoot the flake with binder then clear over top. WAY less buildup and sanding. This apparently how it used to be done. The flake was NOT sprayed in the clear.
