After typical prep work is complete,First step is to spray with a like colored base coat This helps any voids between the flake from showing what color is underneath. Spray flake till covered nothing looks worse than not enough flake think b*** boat drumset dunebuggy The larger the flake size the rougher the finish will be. It requires alot of clear and color sanding and a final clear to achieve a slick final finish. In short , it's a ****load of work...no steps can be skipped...it has to be done properly. But it looks bad***. And that's why it's worth th EFFORT. Flake it!

Also keep in mind the spray gun tip size requirements for the flake you plan to spray. Your basic spray gun will not work as most flake is 1.5 or bigger, look for a gun with at least a 2.5 tip.

I've sprayed pretty big stuff with a 1.8. I just use my primer gun.
