Putting the intake on my 270 Poly motor and it has metal intake gaskets. Do these require any sealer on them? They have the raised bead around the ports but I wonder if they will seal water when put on dry. Thanks for any replies.

I just installed the intake on a 318 Poly in the '62 Dart....... Good how-to article here.

In the Fel-Pro intake kit was a small tube of black RTV. The instructions say to use RTV around the water ports, and use a gas proof sealer around the intake ports much like the article above.

Instead I used Hylomar on all ports, tossed the foam seals and used Right Stuff on the ends.

My next choice would be Aviation sealer, and if I had to choose an RTV for the water ports and ends, it would be Ultra Copper.

    Isn't this a duplicate Thread?

    Prolly quadruplicate or more.

Anyway, I usually slather grease on all four surfaces when installing any kind of lowtemp gaskets like this. Usually makes it a lot easier to disassemble/remove again if you have to.
