There was a metal meet for sheet metal workers a couple weeks ago up in Madera California. I live in San Diego, but one of the main projects was chopping a 1930 model A. I couldn't pass up a chance to take six inches out of a car in pretty decent shape. Plus it was great to see, the other projects and tooling show up. It was hotter than tora bora, but every body had a blast. I swear, when I get the cash for a project, I'm throwing a metal meet. An army of qualified laborers show up and a shhh-hit load of work gets done, for free. That's me in blue.
Yah, that kind of through my off. They seemed content calling it a coupe, so it kind of stuck with me. .....but yes, glad to share some pics of a fun event.
Those get togethers happen all over the US, fairly often. If you are interested, check into one of the metalshaping groups. There is Metalmeet.com and several on Yahoo groups; metalshapers and metalshaping. The Metalshapers group is also found at www.metalshapers.org. The Yahoo group Metalshaping is more of a email group, with lighter traffic.
