Where is a good place to get shaping malletts? I am new to
this art and have a couple shot bags coming from Danny (fellow
    Hamber). Thanks Rob:cool:

How about an oxygen bottle cap with a handle welded to it. Good for heavy shaping. Or a baseball bat cut off with a handle. Cheap hammers!

Most of the commercially available mallets are not heavy enough
for serious shaping, and not long enough to reach inside a deep shape.
They look nice, but are designed to sell, not to actually be used.

Ron Fournier sells some VERY nice Blocking Hammers. They are not cheap,
but they will serve you well for a lifetime. [IMG]

This is one I made,as suggested above.A rubber handle bar grip would be a good idea.

Neat idea on the hammers, I have been making mine out of oak wood. They wear out, make a new head.

Very cool. Thanks everyone. I like the tank cap idea.
